When the CEO of a multi-national corporation is found frozen to death under a pile of wheat in Crooked Lake, Saskatchewan, the global press descend on the small prairie town and on Bart Bartowski, the guy who found the body.

With only days until his daughter's wedding, Bart finds himself in the middle of a murder along with prostate problems, a thirteen-year-old who wants a gun, and tax auditors who are probing for something that is, isn't there.

Set in a small prairie town--unexceptional except for the murder rate--Frost Bite retains all the charm and suspense of Brunanski's first novel, Crooked Lake.

Excerpt

I'm standing in front of the Wheat Pool grain elevator with Corporal Fred Snell, head of the Crooked Lake RCMP detachment. The detectives we've been waiting for arrive in a low-slung, black station wagon. I recognize Sergeant Hutt as he hoists himself out of the deep passenger seat. He pulls a pack of du Mauriers out of his jacket pocket and lights up.
"Hello, Bart," he says. His smoky scowl suggests he's not happy to be back in Crooked Lake.
