Lost on a hunting trip Carl finda that he is unable to find where he is. With a blizzard coming he is caught in a dark and cold bush of the far north.
He sat there on his haunches, his back against a large spruce tree, his 30-30 Winchester rifle leaning against the tree close beside him. Looking up into the evening sky he studied the moon far above as it crept ever so slowly across the night. The glowing circle exposed some dead and dried leaves left hanging from a branch of a hibernating birch tree. A chill passed through him as he sat there, bringing with it the realization that the night was going to be cold and long. There was no chance at all that he would make it home tonight, and besides which way would he go?
