Desperately seeking approval from those whom she loved and respected, Kathy naively placed her trust in the wrong person and found herself in a physically abusive relationship.
In a Vision Beyond Abuse, Kathy Goodhew candidly writes about her fight to escape from the chains of abuse and find her way to peace. For anyone who struggles with pain from a broken past, know that your're not alone. Learn along with Kathy, to find a vision beyond abuse and never give up hope in Jesus and the cross, where his grace pardons all sin.
The main theme of A Vision Beyond Abuse is about overcoming an abusive relationship, but it is also about finding God’s love. Kathy Goodhew vividly describes her personal fight and awakening to a special gift that lies within; her own potential, revealing a motto of never giving up on hope. Struck down, but never crushed, Kathy stays focused on her quest for the only One who loves her unconditionally, and far more than ever imagined.
It is a cold and dreary day with thunderous clouds darkening the sky. The path I find myself on is narrow,
winding, and hindered by a rugged, rocky terrain. I would like to rest beside this weary road, but a fierce
wind cuts through like a knife. Raindrops begin to land upon my brow, and here I am feeling wretched, scared,
exhausted, and without hope. I am alone in my pain. I am in despair.
There are times when a seething anger takes control over the loss of what was; other times I feel an icy
chill in my bones for what I have already endured, and as I look ahead, I may still have to hurdle. Numbness
quickly sets in for the winter within me as I look toward the darkness.
A hole inside me is growing bigger each day. How can I get past this pain? Struggling through this desolate
place, I see where I must go to be free from this place. Reaching for a handhold, there is nothing within
reach as I seek relief from this prison. Like a turtle, I have crept inside my shell for protection,
but through it all, I can never forget the reason. I ask, is there hope? Is there anyone I can turn to? Deep
down, the answer begins to emerge. On bended knee, I pray; "Oh Lord God, I need you so."

I have had a few friends who have recently published books and I have enjoyed reading them. One of them in particular is a book about domestic violence. It is written by Kathy Goodhew and she stepped forward with great courage to write about a subject that is so often kept in the background. It amazes me, like the elephant in the living room, how this abuse can go on and on and people still avoid talking about it. The book, A Vision Beyond Abuse, tells Kathy's personal story. I wish her the best in her endeavor to bring this subject to the front and applaud her effort and courage...
For those of us who have been subjected to this abuse at some time or other in our lives it is a good feeling to have more and more people educated about the lasting effects this has on a family.

I loved this book... I know lots of people say things like that, but let me say this: I could not put it down. Kathy made me cry as I envisioned myself in her place... I rejoiced when she rejoiced and I felt her loss when someone she loved left her life. I could SO identify with her, and I know that millions of other women will too. Kudos to you, Kathy, for sharing and baring your soul with the world in the hopes that others can heal as well.

“A Vision Beyond Abuse” by Kathy Goodhew is a powerful story of one woman’s journey from suffering to the discovery of God’s grace. Kathy shares honestly her experiences of hardships, learning experiences, and joys she endured over the years. The reader can sense the strength she gained as she turned to the Lord in her time of need. Her message of allowing God to wrap his arms around you while you go through a difficult time is meant for everyone. I highly recommend this inspiring story for anyone who wants to be uplifted.
