A Christmas story set in 1944 told by a 12 year old paperboy. A nostalgic, humous and touching story of a poor county boy's special Christmas.

It's 1944 and the War is at its peak. Walter Winchell's daily newscast has the Mason family glued to the radio. Young Richard, the local paperboy, listens to the radio, but other things are on his mind. Christmas is just around the corner and beautiful Rosalie, the girl of his dreams, wants a red scarf for Christmas. Richard is determined to buy that scarf, even though he only has a quarter to his name. The next few weeks are full of humor as he tries to come up with the money. It all comes down to Christmas Eve with old Uncle Hugh, a destitute black man who is almost blind. Richard is torn between buying Rosalie the red scarf and buying Uncle Hugh a pair of glases. It's a Christmas Eve to remember.

Excerpt

"Well, I guess y'all want to hear about the whole dang mess, don't you? Huh? Every little thing? Well, let's see; first off this here pink scar on the top of my foot and the other one on the bottom happened at the end of summer and these pink scratches with the scabs on the side of my leg happened just a couple of weeks ago. Them two red looking holes was caused by something that happened right before Christmas, and none of them have got nothing to do with each other. Can you believe that? Well, it's true, cross my heart, and it still gives me the willies every time I think about it."
