Amazon Simple Thoughts: Of A Simple Heart
Introduction,
These poems are the musings of a simple mans simple heart. Some of the things I’ve learned and written originally for my own library to leave something behind for family and friends. I’ve been asked to share some of them with you. This book is a small collection of my poetry. I hope you like it…Russ

A Promise
When you make a promise
Those aren’t token words you wield
You’ve given others permission
Upon your integrity, to build
You have given them assurance
You’re trustworthy and strong
Your words staunch and dependable
Should “something better” come along
See, others build upon your promises
First tentatively, unsure
Building day by day
Until trust you procure
But, when you break your promise,
Your word on which others depend,
You destroy your own credibility
Dismay both, family and friend
Oh you can reason it out
Justify it, to your own content
Yet, the truth will always be
Your promise was not meant
Yes, it may seem easier
To turn from pain and flee
To simply walk away
Lose sight of integrity
But think of those you love!
Who’ve always believed in you
On what do they depend?
If your promise, was untrue…
