I am Rachel Cormany, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
This morning my babe and I awoke to the strains of
"Dixie" and "The Bonnie Blue flag" under my window.
All day long the Rebels tramped by,
thousands upon thousands,
cheering and waving their state banners with glee,
hauling frightful artillery and an endless trail of wagons.
Such a rough, dirty, raggedy set one does not oftfen see!
They are poorly clad -- many have no shoes.
