In Marty Whimpel and the Curse of the Acne Pimple, future meets past, friendships are formed, adventures are taken, lands are saved, and life as a Junior High School student drones on. It begins in the year 2075 with only Nicholas Chrismon remaining to pass on the legacy of books; the rest of the population has decided to remove books from existence. Several youth question the strict rules and dare to explore beyond their confining society, they stumble across Nick and find, through his story-telling ability, that there really is life beyond computers, androids, and the crippling control their parents have been using on them. Nick retells the story of a young boy named Marty Whimpel that discovers he has the ability to find keys and escape into the lands that books talk about. He is known as the Yulesaychaater, or key-gatherer, in the world of books and his best friend Nick discovers that he also has a special talent as an Eyahge’er, or story teller. They embark on a mission to acquire the vital ingredients to cure Marty’s plague of acne while trying to save the world of books. Along the way they meet unusual characters and face challenges such as divorce, teenage crushes, awkwardness, and fitting in both at the Junior High School they attend together, and in the world of books.
