Well, if David didn't believe in the story about the treasure, she did and she believed strongly enough for both of them. Intuition told her it was just the thing they needed to get out of this mess. She pulled out a pen, opened her folder again, and began writing a list of likely places to look. She'd scour every inch of the castle from turret to dungeon if she had to. The idea made her feel better. She gathered the coffee cups, rinsed and set them in the sink then got her things and left the kitchen. The remembered touch of his hand on hers lingered in her mind and she smiled. If he only knew...but he never would. He was the McKinley laird and she was just his personal assistant. She could dream, but not all dreams could come true. Pity.
