“Pocket Of Kisses”
By Tammy Risaliti
Mommy and Daddy live apart,
But they still love me with all their hearts.
At first I was really sad and thought I did something wrong.
But they told me it’s not my fault; they just can’t get along.
Today I get to go with Daddy. He takes me to the park,
We play until the sun goes down, WOW, it’s getting dark!
Sometimes I feel sad when Mommy’s not close by, but
then I remember what she said; Now I don’t have to cry.
“I put kisses in your pocket, it’s a very special place.
When you feel sad or think of me, put one upon your face.”
I had fun with my daddy but now it’s time to go.
Mommy waits outside to greet me. Oh, I missed her so!
Mommy and I spend some time baking lots of treats.
If it’s nice we sit outside, that’s where I like to eat.
And now it’s time to brush my teeth, as I must go to bed.
I think about my Daddy and remember what he said¼
“I put kisses in your pocket; it’s a very special place.
When you feel sad or think of me, put one upon your face.”
The kisses in my pocket remind me every day.
It doesn’t matter who I’m with I’m loved in every way
Dear Mommy letter in envelope in book (or revise for daddy)
1. I love and need BOTH of you.
2. Don’t make me tell Daddy things, tell him yourself.
3. I know you are scared and sad. So am I.
4. I know you are doing the best you can. So am I.
5. Please don’t say bad things about Daddy. It makes me feel really bad.
6. Please don’t ask me choose sides. That’s not fair.
7. Don’t make me feel like I love Daddy more just because I enjoy being with him too.
8. This may not have been your choice, but it’s not mine either.
9. Please don’t tell me things about the divorce that I don’t understand or need to know.
10. Please don’t make me feel like the head of the house.
I’m just a kid. Let me BE a kid!
