Terminus X is a story that is based on an unprecedented disaster when the sun ejects a massive cloud of charged plasma particles and lethal radiation. When the solar wind reaches Earth, it destroys electronics and heats the Earth's core to a point the planet is shattered into fragments around its molten core and moon.
One hundred years later society slowly reorganizes itself, forcing a government system onto the survivors: Xigen and HumaniX. Any leftover survivors are then placed into a five-tiered cast system consisting of: Priests, Communicators, Warriors, Outcasts, and Dregs.
When Travis and Nelson successfully escape the clutches of the priests, they are taken on board Hudac’s ship where Travis creates a factious story stating that they are part of the Vanguard clan in order to remain under their protection. But peace does not last long and Rayon (The head priest) kidnaps Nelson and takes him back to their village for a special announcement.
The helmsman acknowledged the request and scampered over to his plain workstation. Travis watched as the man entered commands and appeared to look at something in the middle of the room. But Travis saw nothing.
“I don’t understand. What’s he looking at? I can’t see anything,” Travis asked, pointing to the middle of the room.
Captain Hudac handed him a pair of glasses. “Put these on, both of you.”
With the wire glasses in his hands, Travis poked his finger through the gap where the lens should be. Following the advice given to him, he opened the temple arms and slid them on. The view of the room dramatically changed to a holographic paradise of displays and blinking lights. Out of shock, he retracted the glasses and the room returned to a dull white barren deck, no consoles appeared to be on, and all the systems looked like cardboard cut-outs. He slid the glasses on again and stumbled back.
