Whether we’re walking with friends, dreaming, watching the ocean, dancing, or sitting with a pet, the permeable Mystery breathes around us, in us. We tremble at this threshold each day. By God's grace can we experience it: an inexplicable essence, an inexpressible clarity, a moment of pure connection is here – waiting for us, now.

"Trembling at the Threshold – Encountering the Divine in Daily Life", is a collection of spiritual poetry and prose that reminds us of the accessibility of the Divine. Share the journey from universal longing, through the author's surprising personal experiences of the Mystery, to a deepened wonder and love of the One, which is everywhere, and within.
In a fleeting moment of time we call life, we live and become, each finding our individual destiny in the collective struggle. Along the way, in our search for Self, we may be blessed with moments of Grace that show us we are part of a greater wonder.
Although we may strive for enlightenment through prayer, meditation, dreams, music, art, writing, we are not in control of the outcome. Rather, we are guided toward transitory glimpses of the intangible realm that permeates us and the world from which we have separated ourselves. All we can do is to let go into openness; be still, offering willingness and a hope that we will be allowed to see.
In this collection of poetry and prose, I humbly offer a glimpse into some of the surprising encounters in my own spiritual awakening:
In the first chapter, ‘Of Mist and Melodies’, I explore the personal, yet universal longing for the Divine.
In chapter two, ‘A Clearing’, I describe a series of personal experiences of the Divine.
In chapter three, ‘Out of the Shadows’, I reflect on these moments of the Mystery and the transformative effect of having been allowed to cross the gossamer threshold.
Join me in this compilation of personal thoughts, encounters and reflections of a personal longing; the joy, gratitude and humility of having been offered glimpses of the ethereal; and the resulting wonder that nourishes a deeper longing.
You may question whether such reveries are from a purely subjective internal longing or from the transpersonal Other. It doesn’t really matter, as they are both part of a larger whole. So, whether you are walking with friends, dreaming, watching the ocean, dancing, or sitting with a pet, my hope is that you will listen to the purest whispers of your own soul, come to know that the One is everywhere, and within, and that you are not alone.

BELOVED
A feather floats unselfconsciously onto an open palm;
rests delicately in the perfection of itself;
Is lifted tenderly on its journey by a thought;
moved delicately as a bubble through the still air
by the rise and fall of a butterfly=s wing.
Elusive One, beyond meager attempts to color You.
As if a photograph of a rainbow,
Or a sketch of a flower would suffice –
