Best-selling author Bronwyn Chase never quite fit in with the 21st century world around her. On a publicity trip to New York City, a mysterious woman claiming to be a mystic from Bronwyn’s past gives her a silver knight’s spur. Asked to save Euric, a man she never knew existed, Bronwyn finds herself transported to twelfth century Cornwall. Landing at the feet of an entranced Euric, she discovers the instant connection she feels to him comes from a midsummer rite gone horribly awry on the eve of her birth. Forced to face a dark wicce who plans to use Euric for her own nefarious ends, Bronwyn summons her own mystical birthright to free him.

Absolutely perfect - highly recommended!
Bronwyn Chase published her first romance novel at the age of 17. Now, five years later, she is famous, wealthy, and drifting through life. She travels to New York in order to do an interview and while there, she keeps seeing the same, strange woman, who finally appears in her hotel room that night and presents her with a silver spur. When she spins the rowel, she is transported to 12th century Cornwall, near Tintagel, where she learns that it is her destiny to love a knight named Euric, who is under the spell of a dark wicce named Jaenelle, the daughter of the Baron de Wrotham. Can Bronwyn defeat Jaenelle? Will she and Euric be allowed to be together?
Let me start out by saying - I don't like romances, as a general rule. I don't like the ridiculous things that authors to do create "dynamic tension" between their characters, and I don't like the "sameness" that so many romance novels maintain. That said - I LOVED "Spur of the Moment." The interactions were realistic (yes, I believe in soul mates - I have met mine, and I know exactly how Bronwyn felt during this book), and I loved the way that the author developed their personalities and moved the plot. I was a bit surprised - at about the 60% mark a climax hit that I had expected to be at the end of the book and I had no idea where she would go from there, but as it turned out, the continuation of the story was absolutely perfect. Highly recommended for fans of romantic stories, time-travel, English history and good story-telling.
Time Travel Romance At Its Best!
Candace Bowen Early scores another historical winner with this masterful time travel romance. Her love for the medieval English culture and telling a breathtaking love story is evident in Spur of the Moment. It didn't take long for this book to become one I simply did not want to put down!
This epic romance unfolds quickly as young Bronwyn Chase, a famous author of our time, suddenly finds herself thrown back into 12th Century England. She meets a young knight named Euric and is immedately feels drawn to him, inexplicably so, and it's obvious he shares an attraction to her. Unfortunately, the evil sorceress Jaenelle has cast a spell on Euric that makes him her virtual slave. Euric's mother, a mystic by the name of Gwyllion, is desperate to free her son from the spell and knows that only Bronwyn can do so.
The reasons for this are what drive the story in such a compelling way. As a reader, I longed for Bronwyn and Euric to be free to love one another, and felt the angst with each obstacle that kept them apart. Every character, including the demented Jaenelle, was fleshed out and realistic. Bronwyn's painful past made her a very sympathetic character, but the strength she exhitbited kept her from being a woman you could pity. Former foster child Bronwyn found a wonderful mother figure in Gwyllion, and I came to love her as much as Bronwyn did.
There's not much in the way of criticism I can offer here, except that I never got a solid grasp on WHY Bronwyn and Euric had such a strong bond from the beginning. I think one has to suspend disbelief early in this story to accept that aspect. Otherwise, Spur of the Moment is a story that still lingers in my mind, and is sure to become a timeless romance for anyone who reads it. I'm anxious to read the next installent in this saga and I'd recommend this book to any romance lovers, particularly fans of time travel/paranormal romance. Grab your copy today!
An UNBELIEVABLE ride through history!
This book starts out fast and only gets faster. There is no where you can put the book down and take a break. Just be prepared when you sit down with all that you need.
This is an amazing story of the past and young girl's life and the future comming together in perfect harmony. The characters are rich and complete, the plot is very detailed and the ending is a tear-jerker. If you would love to find your "knight in shining armor" get this book. You won't be dissapointed until you reach the end, then it's just a matter of waiting for the sequel!! (due Sept 2012)
Thank you Ms. Early, you have outdone yourself with this one. It may be listed as a YA, but while you're reading you don't need to read "in" the love scenes. My imagination filled in all the blanks and I didn't miss a beat nor did I have to skip anything.
