The Complete Secrets of Health, Safety, & Neatness

What are the secrets of great people from different fields of life since the beginning of the world? Different things, characters, attitudes, values, practices, philosophies, methods etc were put together by great people to be who they were or are. Health, safety, and neatness are necessary enablement for greatness in life. This book shows that “many people die, not because the days of their deaths have come, but because they break the rules of health and/or safety.” It shows that health, safety, and neatness help one to prevent premature death, sickness, pain, agony, and waste, among others. In this book, Lenuf fully teaches hygiene rules (rules of food hygiene, rules of personal hygiene, and rules of environmental hygiene), safety rules (safety at home, driving safety, work safety, and dressing safety) consumption of healthy meals (intakes to avoid, proper diet, good eating habits, and water therapy), body exercise, rest, and attractive appearance, among others. This is a must to read.

HOW TO KEEP HEALTH, SAFETY, & NEATNESS

We have come to a very importance section. Endeavour to do your part with all diligence. Here are some of the ways by which we can keep, protect, and maintain our health, safety, and neatness.

Adhere to Rules of Hygiene
Hygiene is ones of the ways of keeping health. The definition of hygiene testifies to this. What is hygiene?
Hygiene is a condition promoting sanitary practices. Sanitary practices here mean practices that are free from filth and pathogens. Pathogen means any disease-producing agent (especially a virus, bacterium or other microorganisms).
Hygiene is also defined as the science concerned with the prevention of illness and maintenance of health.

From these two definitions of hygiene, what is the inference? Both definitions point to health. This tells you that hygiene is a method for protecting and promoting health. Having known this, we need to consider some rules of hygiene that you need to adhere to in order to always have full health from day to day. Here, we will consider some rules that govern food hygiene, personal hygiene, and environmental hygiene.

Rules of Food Hygiene
These are the rules guiding the practices of handling foods clean and safe for eating in order to avoid food poisoning due to fungal, bacterial, and viral contaminations of foods. The sicknesses of many people are due to the contaminations of the food they ate.
Anybody who is involved in having contact with the food before it is eaten by the consumers is referred to as a food handler. Food handlers are therefore people that are involved in transporting, storing, processing, preparing, serving, and selling the food for consumption. These people are therefore needed to maintain the rules of hygiene in order not to contaminate the consumers.
Wives, you are the chief food handlers at home. Maids and the children that help you in the kitchens are also included. Therefore, try to observe the rules here.
The basis of the rules here is to guard against contaminations by preventing the organisms that cause food contaminations. The food-contaminating organisms are fungi, bacteria, and viruses. Here are some of the rules of food hygiene to adopt...

Obey Safety Rules
Here is the second section of how to keep health, safety, and neatness. Here, we are going to consider the rules that will help you to maintain safety. Without safety, you can easily get any of the following: injuries, accidents, deaths, attacks, etc. Therefore, put safety first in all situations.
Where or in which areas do we need safety? In all areas of our lives, in all activities we engage in, and in all places we are. We therefore need to consider safety in the house, on the street, in the workplace, of our bodies, regarding our dressings, and on carriage transportation. Let us see them one by one.

Live Safely at Home
Pay attention to your safety at home. Do everything under your reach that everybody at home and you are always safe from all hurts. Let us see this under the following categories.

Children Safety
If you are familiar with the warnings on some of the products that you buy, you will notice that they always teach you to attend to the safety of your children. The commonest regarding children safety on most products reads,
“Keep out… of the reach of children.”
Right from my childhood, I have been seen this label, but I did not really know the purpose of the label until after my wedding. One day after my wedding, my wife was pregnant then, I bought a chemical to prevent an item from insects attack. After use, I kept the remaining on the floor in a fruit juice bottle. My wife called me and told me that we should begin keeping away any chemical substance from our children even before they would be born. Immediately, I reason with her. A little child might carry the chemical and drink it like water.
Some medicines we use for our healing and health are dangerous to our bodies if we take them in excess. If such medicine is not kept away from the reach of children, a child at home may take it and consume all at once. This can kill the child or affect the child aversely in other ways. This is why the pharmaceutical companies...

Drive Safely on the Way
Safety here is very important to all. One of the major causes of deaths, deformations, and injuries is traffic accident. Accident statistics testifies to this. By the way, what is traffic accident? Wikipedia the free encyclopedia beautifully defines it thus:
A traffic collision, also known as a traffic accident, motor vehicle collision, motor vehicle accident, car accident, or car crash, occurs when a road vehicle collides with another vehicle, pedestrian, animal, road debris, or other geographical or architectural obstacle. Traffic collisions can result in injury, property damage, and death.

Some of the factors responsible for traffic accident include
vehicle design,
speed of operation,
road design, and
Driver impairment.
According to Wikipedia, “A 1985 study by K. Rumar, using British and American crash reports as data, found that 57% of crashes were due solely to driver factors, 27% to combined roadway and driver factors, 6% to combined vehicle and driver factors, 3% solely to roadway factors, 3% to combined roadway, driver, and vehicle factors, 2% solely to vehicle factors and 1% to combined roadway and vehicle factors.”
Road users, mostly the drivers of vehicles, were responsibility for large percentage of traffic accident. This shows that accident can be prevented if the road users play their parts and follow the rules of driving and road usage.
A report in 2008 says, “According to a Traffic Report by the WHO, road accidents kill more than 1.2 million people annually, and around fifty million people get injured or disabled. These numbers are increasing with the passage of years. Out of over 1.2 million worldwide, 90% of the deaths are caused in the countries that have low or middle level incomes. Globally, more than half of the total accidents that occur are with drivers between the age of 15 and 44 years, and the drivers in more than 73% of cases are males.
“In the EU, the country with the highest number of Car accidents and fatalities is Italy followed by Poland. The UK also has a relatively high rate as compared to other EU countries. Around ten thousand car accidents occur in the UK each day, and most of these are the result of a mistake on the driver's part. Car accidents comprise more than 52% of the total accidents in the EU.
“Out of the total accidents in the EU, 67% are in the urban areas and in 75% of the total accidents, the driver is male. Young drivers between age 18 and 25 are involved in more than 21% of the total accidents and fatalities. Research shows that most of the accidents occur due to reckless driving and intoxication. Other than this, there are large numbers of rollover accidents involving young adults and teenage drivers. The number of accidents due to intoxication is also increasing continuously. In the US, about 70 to 80 people die every day due to accidents related to alcohol.”
From this report, you have seen it that most accidents can be prevented if the road users, mostly the drivers, keep the rules of driving and using the roads. A part of the report testifies to the possibility that accident can be reduced and prevented. The report says, “In the UK, the number of accidents has considerably decreased in percentage over the past four or five years. Recent reports show that the road accidents have decreased by one to two percent since the year 2006.”
If the accident can be reduced, it can also be prevented completely. Let us consider few of the rules that will help us to be safe on the roads.

Drivers & Other Road Users
Wikipedia reports, “A 1985 report based on British and American crash data found driver error, intoxication and other human factors contribute wholly or partly to about 93% of crashes.” This tells you that accidents are almost completely caused by the road users. Here are few rules for us to keep as road users.

See Other People as Mad People
This is my rule number one for all road users. Someone says that if you are by the wheel, see all other people as mad people. That is, whenever you are driving, see all other drivers and pedestrians as mad people. Do you know what that means? Let...

Do Not Over-speed
I have learnt by observation that the time difference between an over-speedy vehicle and normal-speedy vehicle to get to their common destination is always very small but the rate of loss of control, the rate of accident, and the rate of loss of lives of the over-speedy one are extremely higher. Therefore,
§ Let your speed be within the limit stipulated by Road Safety Agency of your country.
§ Let your speed be within the limit stipulated by Road sign of that area.
§ Let your speed be within the limits set by conditions and the limits of ...

Carry out your Checklist first before a Move
Do not manage a vehicle that is not in good condition to anywhere.
Check whether your tires are okay.
Make sure that you have an extra tire and a wheel spanner.
Make sure your fire extinguisher is okay and not expired.
Make sure your headlamps are working well and are bright enough...

Work Safely
Your safety is also very important at work place. The following rules are helpful.

Bosses & Supervisors
Give clear instructions to your subordinate on how to carry out each activity.
Periodically, service the machines to ensure the safety of staff during usage.
Persons with physical or mental impairment shall not be assigned to tasks where their impairment has a potential to endanger themselves or others.
No person should be allowed to remain on the premises while their ability to work is so affected by alcohol, drugs, or other substance, for him not to disrupt his own safety or that of other staff.
Try to avoid unnecessary hazards. This can be done by looking for new materials or equipment that can eliminate the hazards your workers are exposed to.
“No smoking” warning should be posted to prevent any smoking staff member from affecting other staff with his smoking. Smoking can also cause fire accident where there are inflammable substances like fuels, machines, etc.

Subordinates and Staff in General
Carry out your operations, especially of the machine, as you are instructed by your boss.
Wear a safety garment or overall if your job demands that for safety.
Wear helmet to protect your head if your job requires that.
Wear a protective boot to secure your feet if your job demands that or...

Dressing against Cold
A small decrease in your body temperature can affect your immune system. To protect yourself from cold, you need to wear clothing that will properly cover and shield your body. Therefore,
Use or wear a hat when necessary. Females, your headdresses are very useful here. Much of the body’s heat escapes from the head; therefore, prevent the heat loss.
Keep your body dry. Use a clean and dry towel to wipe water from your body and wear dry clothes. Do not wear the dry clothes without drying your body first. In physics, there is a phenomenon known as...
