How many friends must die before realizing that your foreign trade is the cause? Seth Tinsley scrambles to survive when his Hatteras Island seafood exports attract a Japanese dynasty implementing a lethal scheme to reclaim the vanishing core of Japan’s ancient cultural heritage - their cuisine.
Seth’s life crashes as his lucrative sales to Japan’s sashimi markets falters and then his friends and partners die in inexplicable accidents. A startling buy-out offer for his troubled business from an Osaka conglomerate interrupts Seth’s grief and in a desperate need for the cash to launch a secret aquatic technology; Seth goes against his instincts and accepts the mysterious deal. Prior to traveling to Japan to complete the sale and host an exhibition of his new industry altering products at Tokyo’s Tsukiji market, Seth is rescued from a brutal attack by an agent of a secret US Government agency. He is then coerced into cooperating in their Driftnet investigation, but he becomes the bait.
Instead of collecting the prize for the sale of his company and introducing his dynamic invention which will astonish and disrupt the international seafood industry, Seth ends up alone and hunted in Japan; wanted for mass-murder and as an expendable pawn of the US Government. As he finally comprehends that he is the prey of an inscrutable faction unleashing a deadly gambit to control Japan’s sixty-billion dollar seafood industry, Seth accepts that business is war and hatches a plan to escape Japan alive and lure the killers back to Hatteras Island to sate their Not Raw Enough obsession.
