If you enjoy the kind of story poems written by   Rudyard Kipling,, Edgar Allen Poe, Bill Foster, and Robert Service, you will cherish this book. Not only are these ancient "classics"  exposed, but the author has included fifty additional story poems written by budding poets who write in the same style of the old masters.

This is the kind of book you take out on many occassions and read and re-read or perhaps memorize for those special family get-togethers.

The book concludes with a story poem so loved by the famous movie star Orson Welles, that he actually went our and recorded the entire poem to be used as a movie storyboard. Only the his untimely death prevented him from having the movie made.

Recently the author found the recording and the film rights have been sold.

Excerpt

HE'S JUST A DOG
Here is a friend who proves his worth
Without conceit or pride of birth:
Let want or plenty play the host,
He gets the least and gives the most-
He's just a dog.

He's ever faithful, kind and true,
He never questions what I do;
And whether I may go or stay,
He's always ready to obey -
Cause he's just a dog.

He watches me all through the day,
And nothing coaxes him away,
And through that night-long slumber deep,
He guards the home wherein I sleep
And he's just a dog.

As mortals go, how few possess
Of courage, trust and faithfulness,
Enough for which to undertake
Without some borrowed traits, to make
A decent dog!
