This is a novel about the late Mayor Yvonne Scarlett Golden and how she changed my look on life.

Excerpt

Luke 10:19-20

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 –Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; nut rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

MY LOVE SONG

This is a beautiful love song
That gives you the key to my heart
I thought that you’d understand
That you knew what I needed
I believed you’d have faith in forever
I thought we’d share eternity together
I thought you knew what I intended
Words we did not need to mention
You hold my heart in the palm of your hands
My love lives in the caresses of your soul
You had to know that you are my hero
My Superman or my Superwoman
You can do anything
Your dream leap above the highest mountain
Your passion is stronger than a locomotive
I am lost in your turbulence
Can you handle a pit bull in a skirt
Faster than a speeding bullet
Can you handle a pistol like me
I shoot from the hip terms of accuracy
I spit words of fire I can change history
I am a thoroughbred by trade
My faith can move anything

This is my love song

I thought that if I gave you what you needed
Then I could be everything that you dreamed
I thought that if we’d only talk
Then communication would save our love
I thought that if I gave you access to my heart
Then you’d protect us from all harm
That you’d cherish it as if it was your own
So fragile a gentle soul
I thought that when you said you loved me
You knew that I would stay though the pain
I thought you knew I’d forgive you anything...

Many African American families’s made it and survived the Great Depression because they were already sharecroppers. Because they were already not afforded the necessities of an equal life they were already equipped to handle the worse so when the worst came it was a common occurrence that needed no adjustments but required more patience than the average norm. Scarlett-Golden wasn't born during the depression but she witnessed the seperation of segregation that followed even into her death.
