A collection of holiday themed stories and poetry by the Peacock Writers, including Gingerbread Castle, Chocolate Town, and SnowFairies by Carolyn Tody

A Whimsical Holiday for Children: to Benefit Children's Charities

"A Whimsical Holiday for Children" is an original collection of holiday-themed children’s stories and poetry by a small group of authors in the US and UK known as the the "Peacock Writers,” and synthesized with whimsicality, a liberal sprinkling of holiday magic, and an earnest desire to share the awe and wonder of Christmas with children from late toddler to early adolescence.  All proceeds from this initial publication will be sent to a children’s charity.

By responding to the calling of children’s charity, their talents are focused on raising funds that benefit children who have fallen prey to disabling circumstances or natural disasters. Each writer has contributed individually as part of a large online group. The new venture is designed to allow the group to dedicate more freely by releasing at least one annual collection. Each author contributed their talents to raise money through the purchase of this book to benefit children’s charity. Each charity will be chosen for its global impact upon children.

Building Chocolate Town was a big undertaking, and she would name it whatever she pleased. Mom had left her in charge while she and Dad worked overtime, which happened a lot lately. Nanny was out distributing their traditional gift of chocolate cheer to the community.

Ginger was already an expert at baking. She could mold chocolate, shape walls and windows, shingle a roof, and decorate gingerbread. All the materials she needed were sitting right on the counter. All she had to do was pull it together while her nervous Nanny was out canvassing the neighborhood.

While she worked, she hummed the tune of an old, mood-setting poem. Perhaps, she thought, the magic of Christmas would help her finish the project quickly. Otherwise, Ginger would be up all night doing it herself. Hoping for a miracle, she sang:

“Once I made three gingerbread boyz...
