When the next step in human evolution happens, it is not what anyone expects.

Crouching in a ravine in Montana, Arvin Samuels takes aim at a cougar that has been stalking the herd on his uncle's farm.  The moment the bullet rips through the wildcat, something happens to Arvin, and, at the same moment, to a worker in a homeless shelter a thousand miles away, and to a nine-year-old girl bouncing on the trampoline her father gave her for her birthday.

None of them asked for what happened to them, and they don't welcome it, but, as the changes they experience develop, their lives will never be the same.  Neither will the human race.

Professional Reviews

Somewhere Never Traveled (The Weavers Story) [Kindle Edition] is a compelling, thought provoking read that could have come out of Steven King's mind. J. McKenzie takes us mentally through several key players who are all involved in a single incident through the journeys of their minds. So real are the mysterious psychic descriptions that I found myself wondering if this was something I had ever experienced. It had me surfing the web for more information on the condition described as "the next change in human evolution." All I know is this book left me caring about these characters, wanting to know more and rather disappointed to have the book end. You started something, J. McKenzie; I want a sequel.

I Want More!
I enjoyed the read, and the flow of the language in the book. J. Mikesch McKenzie must be part poet. There were parts of the book that I reread and highlighted on my e-reader because of the way the author used the language. The part of the book where Jen and the goose look at one another "two sets of eyes in one mind, looking at each other," just made me stop and enjoy the phrasing and the mental image. Is it possible to "squat" in someone's mind or being? The book raises the possibility - who hasn't been so in tune with someone that you just KNOW how they think or feel. The story is compelling and even believable. The characters become your friends, and as such I just have to find out what happens next. J. Mikesch McKenzie - please don't leave my new friends out there, let me continue to follow their journey. I want more! Great story!
