Alexandra's Wreck is a collection of new poetry that features ghost like themes and retellings of N.C. tales.
Kitty Litter Press
The tale of a love affair gone awry is the centerpiece of this vivid book of poetry by L.B. Sedlacek. The title poem asks, "What are the minnows sewing / as they swim back and forth between / the rotting boards?...." only to answer with a story swirling in murder and mayhem. This collection of 15 poems revolves around hope, homelessness and the hunt for meaning. The poem "Window Vision" illustrates a woman considering the possibility of an affair while "The Comfort of Days" examines the sadness found sometimes in the stereotypes thrust upon the south or southerners. Overall the meanings are clear, the words concise, the images and sounds vivid -- "Alexandra's Wreck" is an exploration deep into the turbulent mind of L.B. Sedlacek that rocks the boat, rides the waves and rarely sets back waiting for a wind to set the sails.
L.B. Sedlacek has had poetry appear in "Facets Literary Magazine," "The Paumanok Review," "Poetry Life and Times," "Unlikely Stories," "Starry Night Review," "IdioM," "Red Owl Magazine," "The Brown Critique," "The Odeum," "Muse's Kiss," and "Beggar's Press" among others. L.B.'s other chapbooks include "...after Graceland," and "The Cat and the Carroll A. Deering & Other North Carolina Poems."

Excerpt
From "Salvation Highway": "Pink tissues bleeding from chewing too hard / on a piece of gum flavored with peppermint -- / a soothing taste lasting only minutes / like a fading sunset on a wooded path ...."
From "Ghosts Within": "We are driving, Big Dipper / to the right of this country highway / lit only by the moon flung high overhead -- / partying with the stars...."
