Hate crimes and racially-motivated violence are the topics of Rendered Invisible: Stories of Blacks & Whites, Love and Death, by Dr. Frank E. Dobson, Jr.  Dobson’s historical novel chronicles the little-known .22-Caliber serial killing spree which claimed the lives of 13 black men in 1980 in New York State.   The killer, Joseph Christopher, was a white racist who wanted to incite a race war by killing black men.   And, he almost succeeded.  His first victim was a 14-year-old black boy.   Sound familiar?   Through thematically interwoven stories, Dobson’s book also examines issues of police brutality, racial profiling, and the struggle for racial reconciliation by both white and black Americans.
