Professional Reviews

Outstanding historical romance
5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding historical romance, June 5, 2012
By S.A. Martin "romance book lover" (Miami, Fl) - See all my reviewsThis review is from: Lauren's Dilemma (Kindle Edition)
The title of "Lauren's Dilemma" draws the reader in, and the plot keeps the reader spellbound. Lauren is a young, headstrong girl living in Austrailia during World War I. She and fellow villager Danny are in love, but Danny is killed at Gallipoli. Ms. Tanner weaves a clever plot, centered around Lauren and the men in her life. After Danny's death, she meets her cousin's fiance while he recuperates from war wounds in a convalescent hospital. Helen's fiance, Blair, suffers from blindness and amnesia. Lauren's cousin, Helen, though beautiful, is a vain and selfish woman. Because of his amnesia, Blair thinks that Lauren is his fiancee. The reader is left wondering if Blair will discover that Lauren is not his fiancee, and how he will react when he discovers her true identity. And what about Helen? Will she come back into Blair's life?

This romance novel is so well-written, but this reviewer still had some reservations about the characters. Lauren appears to have an aptitude for getting herself into trouble. Blair's actions and words often bothered this reviewer; he didn't always appear to be a gentleman. But the plot is so well-constructed I was able to overlook these shortcomings.
