Often Elijah Moon wondered what life would have been like had Old Preacher, yet clad in his pastoral robe, not knelt that Sunday morning to pray. It had been his after-sermon ritual.

What would life have been like had Old Preacher ever risen again?

Elijah could yet see it so clearly in the eye of his mind...

He had thought it strange that Old Preacher had been on his knees for so long. Usually, the older man said a quick prayer, thanking God for using him, a willing vessel. Then sometimes he was escorted to his office where he would change his clothing. Or Old Preacher just might sit, until time to offer the benediction. Then he would greet the Lord's people.

However, before doing any of those things, young Elijah knew something was wrong, with Old Preacher. And in his suit, Elijah knelt beside his father.

He could smell the familiar, light, non-offensive perspiration mingled with Old Preacher's cologne. On his knees, young Elijah wanted to believe his father probably just felt a bit winded. It was why he lovingly asked, "How many times I gotta tell you Dad? You have to stop preaching so hard."

Placing an arm around the man he had ever looked up to, the one who had recently been diagnosed with a heart condition, Elijah was about to ask if Old Preacher was okay.

Yet with his very blood going quickly cold, Elijah knew his father was gone...
