April Alisa Marquette

A sexy, sometimes sad, witty all-night-read about three women and their gay male roommate. Laugh out loud funny one moment, then tense and jolting the next!

April Alisa Marquette’s dazzling debut novel is provocative... The Cohort Trilogy’s Book I depicts three women and their gay male roommate, Beau. The four friends call themselves cohorts and believe their friendship is near perfect; until one of the women betrays beautiful buff Beau -- by cavorting with his man. Then oh, the drama! Amidst, one of the cohorts winds up with a deep dark secret... Indisputable, the truth will further hurt all involved—if it comes to light. Fast paced and riveting...

Excerpt
"This is the condensed version. Vaughn is tall, tan, blond and built. He is one fine white man. He works in your and my office building, as a freelancer, and he has a ton of admirers. He's a graphic arts designer, or something, and he likes both sexes."

Ronni dusted one hand with the other. "See? Painless."

Kismet Staar looked pinched. "How do you know?"

"Know what?"

Kismet Staar remained silent and Ronni winked, before she stated that it seemed Vaughn had a tryst with a male co-worker of hers. "It didn’t end well. There was yelling and crying, in the office. Oh, but a little birdie told me, our Vaughn is also into women."

Kismet Staar watched a balding man exit the eatery, and for the umpteenth time she wondered why? Why would Beau get involved with somebody who wanted every body, it seemed?

Smirking because her friend's jaw was yet clenched, Ronni also announced that 'Beau's friend' had gotten heated, next to her at the Gala...

All butter-yellow skin, raven blue-black hair and tight fitting clothes, Ronni Marie Brown had been at the Regency Publishers Charity gala. Standing in a group, the center of attention, as she so loved to be, she'd seen a man, tall and tan, inch closer.

Not acknowledging the blond freelancer, Ronni had effortlessly finished her tale, to revel in the ensuing chuckles. Then in her snug-fitting, glittering, midnight blue gown with its daringly low back, Ronni extricated herself from the publisher's guests and affiliates alike. Aware that the eyes of the freelancer followed her, she cast a knowing grin, before she sashayed off, to be effervescent in a different circle...

Seated in the gourmet eatery, and having told the scaled-down version, Ronni had omitted that at the gala, she'd left the grand ballroom.

Away from the lavish buffet with its meticulously carved ice sculptures, twinkling overhead lights, live band, and the clink-clink of spirit-filled glasses, Ronni met the freelancer.

In a quiet upstairs corner, they worked on 'graphics' of their own...

Nicely flowing entertaining read
I don't tend to read this genre but I must say I really enjoyed reading the book. Once I got passed remembering who was who, I found the book a nicely flowing, entertaining read, feeling the friendship between the characters enabled you to easily step into the story and feel the love, laughter, drama and tears of the close group of friends.

The story follows a group of four friends, Val, Ronnie, Kismet Staar and Beau, they call themselves the Cohorts and apart from Kistmet Staar, all share an apartment together. Val, who found true love only for it to be taken away from her so brutally, will she ever find love again? Ronnie, seeking so much the attention she desires but not in the right way, can she be honest about what she really desires? Kismet Staar is Beau's cousin who is always there for him, keeping a watchful eye on him. Which then leaves Beau himself, who could have any lady with his looks and charm, but sadly for them he prefers the opposite sex.

Then one friend crosses the line of friendship the whole group falls to pieces and you almost feel annoyed with them for making it happen. A sad and hurtful time for them all, leading to a shock discovery. Can time heal the pain they caused? Can they learn to forgive before it's too late, realising that love should never leave.

True Friendships Never Die
Ms. Marquette's book, Absolution, was an interesting read and touched my heart.

Revolving around the lives of four dedicated friends and the unspoken love that exists between them, the ensuing drama is believable and threatens everything they believe in. The hurt feelings, mistrust and bitter words that are enchanged, as well as the pain wrenching sense of betrayal, is believable. The last few chapters of Absolution are heart wrenching but left me cheering for Beau and his true sense of forgiveness despite overwhelming odds. He is portrayed as a true friend, despite all odds.
Ms. Marquette's phrase, "Love never dies, never walks out on you and never regrets," is beautifully well said and fits the situations that are explored in Absolution.

True Friends
"Absolution" is about the lives of four friends. With drama piled on top of drama, will this group remain friends till the end?

"Absolution" was a very good book. It was entertaining, enjoyable and fun. I really liked April Marquette's message that love never dies, never walks out on you and never regrets. The only thing I would have liked to have seen different with this novel is for a certain character to be happy with someone of her own. Hopefully there will be a sequel.
