This book will give you tips, inspiration, and activities that will help you set your creative self free - so you can take your life from ordinary, to extraordinary.

Excerpt

Ask yourself these questions:

Do you want to rediscover your full creative self?

Can you make friends with your fear?

Do you have reasons to be more creative?

Then keep reading…
Because… All good things come to those who risk.

Your Passion
Think about something creative you like to do. Or that you used to like to do, if it’s been awhile. Maybe you like to paint, or design, or raise kids in a
creative fashion, garden like no one’s business, build furniture, shoot hoops, or take roads less traveled.

All things are open for creative expression.

It doesn’t matter what creative passions you have, or even if anyone else would define your passion as creative.

All that matters is that your passions are a part of your creative self.

What’s the Payoff?
You get your whole self back.

REVIEWED BY ELAINE WIENER

Quirky, zestful, energetic, and above all, creative.
Dr. Paul Torrance himself would have loved this book.

This is a non-workbook workbook that is the epitome of what a thinking-doing workbook should be. Its blank spaces are as important to the message as the wonderful lists of activities. If I were
still teaching I would buy extra copies so I could tear apart the pages for activity centers. Or I would use each item for my own natural flowing creative idea as though it just fell out of my brain. (Don’t forget to give Ms Daniels the credit, however.)

The beginning pages are a pep talk to those reading it. Karen Daniels talks about the fears that stop creativity. And because she “extra” spaces everything, you have time to think about her words. She was quite clever to do that because it worked on me. I’ve never thought of myself as creative, and now I have to face why I have bought into that thinking. Sigh. It was free therapy!

There are creative boosting activities.
“Tools needed: crayons, scrap paper, and a crazy voice in your head.”
I had fun.

There are 25 Mind-Bending Lists, and all are wonderful:

1. List all the things you can hear right now.
2. List all the things that make you better as you age. (I loved that one.)
9. List things that live in shadows.
10. List things that harmonize.

I wish I had space to describe the following ideas, but these categories should entice you.

Creativity Boost 3: Problem Solving
Creativity Boost 4: Your Far- Fetched Excuses
Creativity Boost 5: Transform Yourself
Creativity Boost 6: Waking Up Your Adjectives
Creativity Boost 7: Come On Out
Creativity Boost 8: Let’s Pretend
Creativity Boost 9: Ideas to Change the World

The pages at the end of the book can be used as worksheets. Use them on yourself before you use them with children or students; it will give you greater insight and provide greater depth in your teaching. Grown-ups should have some fun, too!
