While the story is quite eerie, it also touches the heart in a different way, concerning ghosts. The Ghost Of Emily ~ A True Story

By Katie Fairchild

A true account of a ghost story, where the author tells the story of the ghost child, named Emily and in great detail. While this story is an eerie story at best, it also captured the heart of the author, as well as changed her opinions concerning ghosts, and haunting experiences.

Until the year of February 2001, I never really believed in ghosts. I loved to hear ghost stories, with all the eerie details, but to me they were only ghost stories to scare one by. And everybody likes to be scared a little. But my opinion of ghost and ghost stories changed drastically in the year of 2001, and here I am telling a ghost story.

It all started with a bathroom I started to paint. Without giving the story completely away, are excerpts from the story to give the reader a view.

“The paint vanished again in the still air. I was quite puzzled by this. Maybe if I tried some different paint it might work. And I did try a different type and color of paint - and right before my eyes, it vanished again! In confusion, I sat down on the edge of the tub and exclaimed “WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE?” All of a sudden the name EMILY came to me. It was so strange and it is so hard to explain even to this day of how the name entered my mind.  It is not as if someone whispered Emily where I could hear it, but was somehow whispered into my mind and imprinted  onto my brain, as well as a vague description of Emily. Emily, a little girl between the age of 10 to 13 years old was all I got.”

Jim was having a problem with the doors. When we would go out for the day, Jim would put all of our four dogs in the hall and shut them totally in, so that they could not get to the other rooms of the house.  And it never failed, each time we returned home, at least one or two doors were cracked open.  Jim considered that our son Cameron might have something to do with it. Cameron, lived in Huntsville also, but he did not have a key to our house. Crystal, our 15 year old daughter, was at school, so no need to blame her.

In this book, describes Jim with his concerns with the doors.   Jim says,  "I want you to walk behind me and check each door as I close it, to make sure it is securely shut." I did as he asked, and then we left. We arrived back home two hours later, and beyond my belief, and his, all of the eight doors leading off the hall were WIDE open, as well as the two doors off the laundry room, where the kitchen door and the utility closet doors were!! I am sure you can imagine, our eyes were WIDE open also, in total amazement and surprise.

The above are of small parts of the story that I hope will give the reader an idea of the experiences we had in this old house, and concerning our new found ghost child which we called Emily. This preview is of just a few  experiences we encountered while living in the old home, as there were just so many, which is why I wrote the story. Remember, this is just a preview. The book is available in paperback, or in download if you want to know “THE ENTIRE STORY!”

All my life I have believed in honesty, was taught the importance of honesty as a child and made it a personal goal for myself, and taught my own children, and now my grandchildren the importance of honesty. This is an honest and true story. And one I will never forget and remember with many emotions. Katie Fairchild

Reader Reviews for "The Ghost Of Emily ~ A Very True Story"

Reviewed by Sandie Angel 10/19/2005
Hi Katie:

Yes, I remember this true story you've told me some time ago. I do believe in ghost.

I personally have not seen one yet; but there is one guy whom I talk to at work see them often. He said he even see this ghost at our work place, standing around in different locations all the time.

He sees this spirit of one lady who had work in this building some years ago, but had committed suicide because of some family problems she was facing during at time, but her spirit has never left the building where she worked. I had never seen this lady ghost, but this guy whom I talk to at work says he sees her standing around all the time.

About doors opening by itself - yes, I did encounter that. One evening I had to go shopping after work. I worked overtime and got out of the building late. When I got to the mall, I suddenly realized that I had left my whole wallet sitting on my desk at work, so I had no money to do anything and no card to do anything.

I got back to the building where I worked, but it was really late, but I needed to get in to go up to my floor to get into my office to get my wallet back, for I really needed to get that so I can buy my things that are needed for the following morning for work.

When I got there I didn't know how I did it, not only did the front door of the building opened for me when I pressed the button, the elevators WORKED (normally it takes a specially overtime card to get the elevators to work, one has to slide the card into a slot somewhere to get the elevators to work again) miraculously for me when I merely pressed the button to go up to my floor. When I pressed, the door closed. The elevator went up, but stopped on a floor that I didn't press and when the door opened I saw the security guard was about to get into another elevator to go down. I quicly screamed out to him and asked me to escort me back to my floor to open my office door for me so I could retrieve my wallet. (Note: If I missed him, I would never had the ability to open my office door, as it is generally locked and alarm protected. I was so happy that the elevator miraculously stopped at the floor that I didn't press so I could catch him in time. Isn't it REALLY ODD?)

Can you believe the timing of all this? He was puzzled how I had got into the building to begin with, and he was totally amazed that I could make the elevator to move at all!!!!!

I just thought you might like to hear this miracle and I think that whoever this lady ghost is she was helping me that night to get what I want. I do believe that!!!!!

So your story about the doors being opened when you've closed them I DO BELIEVE IT 100%. It does and CAN happen!!!!!

I'm so glad you are making a book of this supernatural happenings. A timely book for the Halloween indeed! and what's more scary than what has truly happened?

Some spirits are friendly and they do help you when you really needed the help.
