Excerpt from Chapter 1
In just one minute the dreaded alarm would go off and it would be a new day. Another day filled with endless houselhold chores and heartache. Leslie longed for the days that she had known in the beginning when she had first met Chad back in her hometown of Aurora, Colorado, but she feard that he would never again be that sweet and charming man that she had fell in love with. She feared that image of him was only becoming a distant memory.
"Chad, Sweetheart, it's time to get up," she whispered, touching him ever so softly on the shoulder.
"Then I guess you better get in the kitchen and get busy," he yelled.
"Chad, why do you talk to me that way?" she complained.
"What did you say, bitch?" he whispered to her through gritted teeth. Leslie started to climb out of bed. She knew the best thing for her was to get away from as quickly as possible. He grabbed her arm and jerked her back to him. "Let me tell you something. If you ever talk to me that way again I'll knock the hell out of you and that's a promise," She laid there and nodded her head in agreement. She would have done just about anything to save herself from his abusive hands and bone chilling words whisping across her face.
