Then they cut off his hand bearing his signet ring to convince village people of their deed. Two centuries later the baron's withered and yellow hand is accidently freed from its urn of formaldahyde, where it has been captive for 200 years. It begins wreaking vengeance on human beings for its master's death. It even found its way to Virginia where it haunts Great North Mountain, terrorizes co-eds attending Briarwood College and finally returns to its origins leaving a tale of death and horror behind.

 “Old Yellow Hand”

A Novel by

Earnest Mercer

Many years ago there was a tyranical and spiteful overlord by the name of Baron Goran von Goranovich.  His small fiefdom was located in the mountains of Transylvania.  The Baron horribly mistreated his serfs who were at his mercy.  One day, the vassals had had enough and rose up against the tyrant.  A small contingent of villagers invaded the Baron’s castle and slew him, severing his right hand with the Baron’s signet ring.  They hoisted the hand with the ring upon a petard and paraded through the village to convince the cowering serfs that

the hateful Baron was indeed dead.
This story is how the Baron’s withered hand survived for a hundred years and found its way to the United States where it set about avenging his master’s death by slaying as many humans as it could manage to sneak up on and latch onto the victim’s throat.

Artemus, one of a pair of embalmers working in the Gore, Virginia moturary, accidently overturned a very old urn of formaldahyde allowing the baron's severed hand to escape whereupon it began avenging its master's death, starting with the embalmer who fainted dead away after freeing the hand. The old yellow hand dropped from the embalming table onto the prostrate embalmer, crept up his torso and closed its powerful fingers around Tazeem's neck, choking the life from him; then, made its escape leaving no clues.
