I remember as a youth reading anthologies of short stories. Andrea Norton, Isaac Asimov, Heinlien, all of the greats wrote short stories. Now everyone seems to want to write epic novels. A short story was a joy to read. On the way to school, during a break, on the way home, you could enter a different world and see wonders, if only for a moment. Some left you feeling happy, others sad and most left a seed of wonder behind.
I hope this modest collection of short stories may inspire the next Norton, Asimov or Heinlien to begin writing, or perhaps, to continue. I have no aspirations that I might become one of these legendary writers, I have begun to late and bring too few ideas to the table. But I hope I might leave a few seeds of wonder, a few questions and maybe some joy and sadness with these simple stories. Enjoy!
