From Neo-Nazi groups and their white supremacy activities, to Mossad operatives finding evidence of ex-Nazi's living in South American countries to former Soviet-bloc nations in turmoil and their nuclear arsenals not totally accounted for, Sergeant Wilson's last assignment of his brilliant military career is turning into quite an adventure.

Kevin Grover's auspicious debut novel Strike Hard has all the elements that a suspense novel should have, and examines a possibility that many believe could never happen.
Strike Hard, released by PublishAmerica, explores a series of events that occurred during the winter storm that paralyzed the state of Kentucky in January of 1984. Mr. Grover has crafted the story masterfully, which poses two questions: Is Strike Hard a work in fiction? Has our Government been forthcoming with information surrounding the events that occurred that winter?
Strike Hard is a taut suspense adventure that explores the possibilities of what could happen. Many of the elements involved are in place in the world today. Neo-Nazi groups are stepping up their white supremacy activities, and Mossad operatives are finding more evidence each day of ex-Nazi's living in South American countries. Former Soviet-bloc nations are in turmoil and their nuclear arsenals are not totally accounted for. The result is a novel that is both entertaining . . . and frightening if one looks at the potential impact of these elements coming together on today's world stage.
Excerpt
It was always presumed, by both the government and the public, that any attempt to break into the United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox would be futile and impossible. On the fifteenth of January, 1994, a major winter storm swept through the state of Kentucky, paralyzing the state for almost a week. What is not known is that events occurred before and during this storm that, if made public, would place serious doubts as to the security of our nation and our financial reserves.
In all documents of the United States Treasury Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Central Intelligence Agency, and Military Police Intelligence, no reference to the events described herein ever came to pass. There are no records of any kind to indicate anything in any files of the Military police, or any units assigned to either Fort Knox or Fort Campbell. Essentially, the story of what you are about to read has been erased from history

To fulfill the requirements for his degree in criminology Army Sergeant Anthony Wilson joins Colonel Nathan Hooks of Military Police Investigations to investigate the thefts of weapons from military bases. The entire intelligence community has no clue about the perpetrators. Each avenue of investigation is circumvented by someone inside who informs on them. An attempt is made on Tony's life. When the would-be assassin is apprehended, it is learned that a Nazi group in Argentina is behind the thefts. They plan to break into the U.S. Bullion Depository at Fort Knox and use the gold to finance a new Reich. It becomes a race for Nathan to convince the military, who refuse to believe him, to increase security at Fort Knox before the Nazis storm the Depository. The attack is made during a crippling snow storm. A fierce battle ensues. This is a well-developed plot with true-to-life characters. The writing style is smooth and readable. The dialogue is written in a way that sounds real. The action is fast moving. This is a taut suspenseful story showing enough of the potential dangers to this country to set alarm bells ringing. The author leaves us with the feeling that we will be reading more of Sergeant Anthony Wilson's experiences in the future.
Niccole Wallace, Mgr. of Columbus Book Nook Reviews, May 20, 2002
With his debut novel, Columbus, Ohio resident Kevin Grover has created a story that is wrought with suspense and danger. However, during this, he has not forgotten that the main part of any story - aside from the plot itself - are the characters. Writing is a skill that many try to have, but few have accomplished. Mr. Grover accomplishes the handling of characters in a way that is unmatched. Tony, Nathan and Karen are well-written and the dialog is as real as can be written. Even the supporting characters of Karen's parents, the Doctor in the hospital, and a lot of the other assorted cast are portrayed as real people with feelings, emotions, and every other aspect of humanity. The story finds Tony being swept up by a plot to break into the gold vault at Fort Knox. while this idea is totally unplauseable, Mr. Grover presents it in such a way that actually makes you stop, if only for a brief moment, and ask yourself if it really could happen. As he presents so eloquently in the forward: When the government is involved, the truth will never be known. This book is highly recommended for anyone who enjoys Tom Clancy, Dean Koontz, Stephan Coonts, Clive Cussler, and any of the many other books which are full of intrigue and suspense. Mr. Grover does join the ranks of these great authors by writing his story in a 'True Fiction' method, taking actual historical events and wrapping his story around and through it so the reader is at least partially unsure as to which part is fact and which is fiction. Our staff highly recommends this book, both for general reading and for the experience. Look to see more from this bright and energetic author in the future.

This book has "intriguing block buster movie" written all over it, but that is not what made it so appealing. Mr. Grover does his homework, his research, and that makes Strike Hard shine. Whether it was the awesome military capability so few common citizens know much about, or mortal wounds inflicted by snipers or combatants, I found every word believable. This is a book that both men and women will enjoy.
Located in the rolling hills of Kentucky, much of the action and investigation takes place in and around Ft. Knox and Ft. Campbell. Our hero is Tony Wilson, a buck Sergeant and Advanced Individual Training Instructor at Ft. Knox. Tony is a man who lives with quiet thoughts and likes it that way. He shares a comfortable long-term friendship with Sgt. Karen Harris and is blithely unaware of her affection for him.
Tony Wilson is not a die-hard warrior or a macho skirt chaser. His mind is focused on friendship, humor, living a calm and honorable life, and earning a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology. Enter Lt. Colonel Nathan Hooks. Nathan is near retirement and finds himself faced with the unexplainable theft of military weapons and the suspicious deaths of several military staff members. When Tony applies to do his practicum with the Military Police Investigation Office, Nathan takes the younger man on board. Smart, with a calmly focused, analytical mind, Tony helps uncover a reason for the stolen weapons and murdered soldiers. He soon finds himself up against an old line Nazi nemesis - Hans - who will stop at nothing to reach his goal. This includes assassinating Tony and any other person who tries to stop him.
Hans and fellow Nazi Heinrich plot to breech Ft. Knox and rid themselves of Tony. In his own quiet, determined way, Tony battles the blizzard of the century, struggles to stay alive and to protect everyone and everything he loves and respects. I just have to say this. Fasten your seatbelts, readers. Strike Hard is an exciting ride that leaves you eager to read the author's follow up, Strike Swiftly. I hope the author doesn't make us wait too long.
