Jay Dubya Books
"The Great Teen Fruit War, A 1960 Novel" involves conflict between the Blues (sons of blueberry farmers) and the Reds (sons of peach growers) in a southern New Jersey agricultural community.
The setting for "The Great Teen Fruit War, A 1960 Novel" is Hammonton, New Jersey, an agricultural community located midway between Philadelphia, PA and Atlantic City, NJ. The Blues (sons of wealthy blueberry growers) wear blue denim' button-down waist-length jackets and the Reds (sons of proud peach farmers) wear James Dean' red zip-up jackets. Bellevue Avenue in the center of town marks the dividing line separating sandy-soil blueberry country to the east and dark-soil peach territory to the west. "The Great Teen Fruit War" is an action/adventure story for anyone that likes late '50s and early '60s American teen culture. The novel mixes elements of action, humor, drama, romance, conflict and racial tension into an action-packed saga loaded with suspense and surprises. Throw into the storyline the town greasers The Ramrodders, and events quickly heat-up as the three gangs struggle for turf dominance. When Goose Restuccio, the son of a Mafia kingpin joins the Reds, he challenges Gabe Gillette, the leader of the rich-kid Blues. Soon strife escalates into grave situations. Goose is captured by Blues and then forced to rape a black girl, and after Crystal Davis becomes pregnant, it becomes Crystal's friends and the Reds against a mean coalition of Blues and Ramrodders. "The Great Teen Fruit War" (Adult Literature) is the exciting sequel to "Black Leather and Blue Denim, A '50s Novel." The Great Teen Fruit War is now in Mobipocket download format.
