Playful, serious and very provocative, Flying With Broken Wings is a powerful look into the life of today's teenager on the verge of adulthood. The poems take the reader on a dazzling roller coaster ride through universal experiences and emotions that shape all of our lives. Written with honesty and sass, this book will draw readers into the enticing life of a young girl who learns about herself through her mistakes, takes the misfortune surrounding her and turns it into determination to succeed and fly above all that is 'false'. The author takes the reader by the hand and leads them intimately into a world that will seem all too familiar to anyone who is struggling with their changing identity. It is more than a collection of poems; it is a journey inwards to find the essence of one's true self. The reader, young or old, will love every moment of this poetic and tantalizing adventure.
Written during the author's high school years, Flying With Broken Wings sheds light on the emotions and experiences that are present in the lives of young adults everywhere. The author writes about the lessons of lust, the admittance of arrogance, the acceptance of oneself, the fleeting of innocence, the pain of dishonesty and the triumph of maturity with incredible poise and delicate brilliance.

Accepting me
I have been through Myself
more than once
turning over pages
with tiny fingers
flesh eaten down to the bone
exposed for all to see,
skin hanging loose
to the side
awkwardly searching
for the good in Me
I always knew existed.
Somewhere
deep down inside
under buried secrets
dark and destructive,
hides a courageous
but reluctant girl-
Who knows how to fly
Who knows how to soar.
But when will she stop hiding-
When will she come out
and be ready to touch the sky?
When will she embrace
The Truth of who she is?
When will she understand
one can only change themselves
so little . . .
When will she realize
no one can accept her
until she is ready
to accept herself?
