Reflections In My Tears
The Rider’s Prayer
Written: February 26, 2006
He laces his boots and pulls them tight-
Praying that God will protect him tonight.
“Lord, I’m getting on the devil again-
And there is the chance that he might win.”
”But win or loose, my life rests in Your hands-
“8 seconds is a long time to many a man.”
“Guide my rope and let me cut loose in time-
Ease my nerves, when on that bull I climb.”
“Destined to ride again or not-
Everyone will know I gave it all I got.”
“All this cowboy is really asking of thee-
“Is Lord, please ride with me.”
He lifts his head and goes on his way-
Hoping 8 seconds on that bull he’ll stay.
This is The Rider’s Prayer-
If they glance back, it’s to make sure the Lord is there.

Exellent book to keep
The book “Reflections In My Tears” by author Candice M. Martin is a very deep book of intense emotions and tells of the abusive past the author has overcome. The poem “Flash Back” caught my heart and I was moved by the piece. “Tick Tock” is another poem that I greatly enjoyed. I can say that this book is one of the best I’ve read in a number of years, and for Mrs. Martin to willingly express her thoughts and pain to others is a very special gift of sharing and courage. I will be keeping this book somewhere safe as it is truly a wonderful book and one all should read.

Reflections In My Tears, is a collection of poems that awakens in it’s subject matter. Offering a frank insight of life, Candice Martin, opens a window with each poem, deepening and widening the reader’s perception. In her search, Martin discovers a sense of self. This author has indeed, “found her voice“.

The Silence of Abuse
Alberta H. Sequeira- Author of A Healing Heart,
It's not often that I take the time to read poetry, but after reading Reflections In My Tears by Candice M. Martin, I realized she had a story to tell and the need to share it with the world. I couldn't put the book down and read it from cover to cover in one day. My eyes were full of tears and my heart broke throughout the whole story. It makes you look at the reality of the silent everyday abuse against innocent and defenseless children behind closed doors. I recommend this book.
