Amazon Barnes & Noble.com Introducing: The Composer
I never knew Poetry would mean so much to me. After everything that has occurred throughout my brief lifetime it is still the lone thing that I can depend on for a brief moment’s happiness.
When you think about all the many great poets from the early years, you’d think Poetry would receive more acclaim, but for some reason it doesn’t. That was my intention when I began compiling the poems to be featured inside The Composer, to bring the art of expression back to the top of the list where it belongs.
I know there are many poets out there that will agree with me when I say that Poetry is just more than a few stanzas of rhyming words. For some of us it is life, we know nothing else.
Music is something that inspires me to write. It is only when I hear a song that touches me inside my soul that I feel the urge to write my inner most thoughts down. If it weren’t for music I wouldn’t be able to express myself the way I have throughout the pages within this collection.
One of the greatest writers of all time Langston Hughes was inspired by music and created poetry with rhythm identical to music. I’ve read many of Mr. Hughes’s poems and have been touched and inspired to write from the music in my ear just as he did. So therefore you have it, poetry inspired by the great musicians throughout time. This was the opening song, turn your volume up and push play… Let the music began.
Excerpt
A Song Inspired by Jimmy Hendrix
Like an earthquake, and then the world shakes-
It’s coming and you can sense it,
The loudest chord from the pit of my soul,
An electrifying riff from the guitar of the one and only Mr. Jimmy Hendrix.
I’ve got so many songs to sing and my voice varies in so many ways,
With so many different colors inside my soul I know you can see my Purple Haze-
That’s why the band played on.
There’s only way one and this is that way,
Push play and compose the notes of my soul when it unfortunately rains all day,
These pages are duets with my rhythm section which starts where my tears form
through my heart and continues to further down,
a pen and a piece of paper creates this harmonious sound,
Which is the music within my soul-
Thus I am and always will be
