This latest CD of 12 more original songs for kids and families is the best yet. School Library Journal and Booklist loved it...
The clever lyrics, memorable melodies and uptempo arrangements make this CD as enjoyable to adults as it is to kids. A pre-teen summed it up recently when he said... "You rock, dude."

Hats Off to Reading
Once I read a story 'bout a singer
who loved to sing for children everywhere.
And every song told a different kind of story.
And every song had a lesson to be shared.
But if I never read that singer's story,
I might not be here with you this very day.
And that's why I think reading is so important.
And that is why you'll always hear me say
When I get the end of a sentence I keep reading.
When I reach the end of a page, I go on.
When I get to the end of a chapter I read another, until the words "the end" have come and gone.
When you read a book straight through from cover to cover. After the hero gets what he's been needin'.
You can always share your new adventure.
Just stand right up and say "Hats off to reading."
K - Gr 3. So many things make performer and songwriter Darrell House Feel Like Singing. That's good news, since he's so much fun to listen to. The topics-picnics, grandmas, future careers, mysterious attic treasures-of these 12 original songs will get kids singing as well. House takes a genuine child's point of view in many of his songs; he comes across as more peer than
indulgent grown-up. And although there are some wise lyrics, especially in the reassuring "When the Time is Right", the songs also include a generous amount of inventive and downright silly wordplay. The music can be folk, as when House accompanies on acoustic guitar, or more pop oriented. Highly recommend Paul Shackman

PreS-Gr4-Singer/songwriter Darrell House follows up his previous album, Underneath the Cushions on the Couch, with this clever, catchy, upbeat collection of 12 tunes. Ranging from the inspiring (The Future is Me)to the downright silly ("The Rhyming Song," "Skooldelyottelydoodelywoo), The songs crackle with House's infectious energy. Kids and adults will giggle at the goofy
"Pic-a-nic" full of foods such as "chick-a-lic," "steak-a-lake," and "broc-a-loc," and will nod knowingly at the affectionate "That's What Grandmas Do." Substance underlies many of the songs as in the empowering message of "When the Time is Right" (We learn because we practice/we suceed because we try)and the librarian pleasing "Hats off
to Reading." House, with his smoky voice and energetic delivery, shares each song with the joy of a favorite uncle playing guitar on the back porch. Kathleen Kelly MacMillan
