Sheriff's Deputy, Abi Andersen, while struggling with her emotions after her mother's death works under the tyranny of "Captain Guillotine" who seems determined to add her to his collection of decapitated careers.

Abi's investigation of an unusual missing person's case draws her into a computer world of chat rooms and virtual reality games. She soon finds herself being investigated for a series of bizarre murders by an unknown avenging angel.

When Abi’s investigation takes her to Galveston she encounters Molda Raven Shield, a
map specialist, who has created VERJ: a Virtual Reality environment of torture that brings her victims to the threshold of their own reality before she releases them to the outside world.

Intricately weaving real-time and place with virtual reality, the search for the murderer culminates in a fight-to-the-death struggle, and Abi is left to seek her sanity once more.

It's all in your head, doctor. No one else owns your reality. Always remember that. Oh, and by the way, welcome to Verj."
Dr. Brantly can distinctly hear the voice coming from his right ear and turns his head to look and see who is talking to him. His eyes then catch sight of an old crossed-eye woman in a doctor's coat.
Again, he finds himself stunned and staring.
"Michael, I am Dr. Wing."
Dr. Brantly is still unable to repsond. He feels like he is still in shock.
"Michael, how would you know if your reality has been changed?"

Professional Reviews

Review by Marilyn Morris, Author and Editor
Imagine taking virtual reality to a new level of horror as a tool for revenge. Using her extensive knowledge of the high tech world, plus her years of law enforcement, the author brings us into a world populated solely in the victims's minds. Her narrative of the nightmarish programs, leads the reader to speculate, What if that happened to me? She does not dwell solely in the world of imagination, but brings the real world's harsh realities for the characters to deal with in real time. Blending the real world with the unreal takes an exceptional skill, and the author has done it exceedely well.

Review by P.J. Lawton, Author
Wow, What a ride.
In Verj, Inge-Lisa Olesen has put together a story that has it all, use of strong characterzation inter-woven with well built plottiing and suspense.  Inge cleverly allows the readers into the mind of her characters, deftly outlining the strengths and weakness of human nature, to include grief and loss, the desire for retribution and revenge, and even a touch of madness Once you get involved with book's characters, you won't be able to put it down.
Set in real time and the world of virtual reality, Verj sweeps readers along to a climax that leaves one to wonder.
Could it really happen ?
A darn good tale.
