Connie O'Hara, shy, quiet and dull, was from the wrong side of the tracks, so no one was more surprised than she when rich, handsome Brad Edwards asked her to marry him. But married life didn't turn out quite as Connie had hoped, especially when Brad's mangled and very dead body was discovered at the foot or the staircase of their palatial St. Louis home.
Brad's death triggers Connie's spiral down into dark depression as more dead bodies are discovered in the city, all killed in the same grisly way.
Enter Frank Vinucci, a washed-up St. Louis detective and James Kelley, a local psychologist, both men fighting their own demons, as they attemt to unravel the "Mayhem Murders." Connie is drawn inextricably into the suspense, her connection to the murders baffling both her and the inverstigators, as events lead them to a dramatic conclusion.

Excerpt

Chapter One,Reno, NV, Summer, 1980
"Where are we going?"
Connie shrank back into the passenger seat of the car and inched further away from his hand, which was uncomfortably close to her leg. She tried not to look at Ike's thigh...so muscular, so manly, encased in those tight, black pants.
"Now don't you worry your pretty, little head, babe. You'll see soon enough."
