Part of Introduction
"Once upon a time in a hot, humid swamp in Louisiana, lived an alligator named Boudreaux. He was like no other alligator that had ever lived. He had the brightest eyes and the kindest smile and was liked by everyone he met. He could trace his relatives all the way back to the 1700’s. They were Acadians and had come here from Nova Scotia. His Mama and Daddy were from Baton Rouge, but they had moved to Honey Island Swamp in Slidell before Boudreaux was born. He had lived in the same Louisiana swamp for all of his life. The deepest part of the swamp had always been his home. Everyone who was born there usually stayed there. It was a magical and mysterious place to live. Everything grew very big in the swamp. The plants and the bugs got so big that Boudreaux thought for a long time that the mosquito was the state bird. Boudreaux and his buddies went to school together and played together on weekends. He had lots of adventures that he can tell you about, but before we can start the story, you will meet Boudreaux’s buddies one at a time."
Excerpt
"Boudreaux would never forget the heart and soul of the people that had touched his life along the way. One day, he would be back at home in Honey Island and the people of New Orleans would regain their city. They were made weak, but they would be strong once more. Boudreaux would always remember Katrina and her devastation on South Louisiana and Mississippi. She had truly been the biggest adventure of all."
