A heartfelt collection of poems and short-story book excerpts writen by myself and some of my talented friends. This collection describes the different types of passion one can possess - with an urban touch...

This wonderful collection of heartfelt, passionate poetry and short story book excerpts describe the feelings, life struggles and triumphs of the urban man and woman. This work includes tributes to loved ones, release and struggling through life pressures, religion, racial injustice, and of course - last but not least, the ultimate passion between lovers, among others. All forms andversions of passion are exhibited within these powerful writings, we are sure that all can relate to and enjoy as they journey through these pages.

Discover the magic of these authors:

RM Green, who is currently working on her first novel, 'SHE COULD HEAR THE SILENCE', writes poignantly about the challenges and triumphs of single motherhood, and the effects of domestic violence, among other societal ills;

Terance Williams piece speaks from the streets about money vs. happiness;

Noah Travis tempers his 'straight from the hood' styling to teach us about what's in his heart and his faith, with charm and a romantic edge;

Felecia Trotter's writings seem to speak to every woman and mother, giving them a voice to say what they have held in for so long;

Jason Tucker brings his own brand of urban poetry to the mix, professing passionate loves and confirming what many think and are afraid to say, he manages to say boldly;

Timothy Hollins' pieces bring societal consciousness and masterful wording together in a way that reaches deep in your soul. The author of the newly published novel, 'SACRED GROUND', definitely knows how to weild a mighty pen...

Enjoy this wonderful tabletop collection of poetry from the yet unsung masters, these 'diamonds in the rough'!

A portion of the proceeds from this work will be used to help fund programs and shelters to aid victims of domestic violence, and help eradicate this phenomenon from our society.

Sometimes I cry, late at night
When Iím all alone, no one to hold me tight
Wondering what is my purpose, by and by
And if it makes much difference whether I live or die?

As I struggle along, working each day
It seems that Iím not making much headway.
It is only for my children that I strive
To keep pushing on, and stay alive.

The pain I have suffered throughout my life
Keeps playing through my mind, the stress and strife.
Why is this emptiness constantly eating at me
With no end in sight; it just wonít let me be.

Abuse from the hands of one I had once loved so dear
Had me walking on eggshells, living in fear.
The scars from such I still bear to this day
And even after fifteen years, they still havenít gone away.

Even now, when my family holds things from the past
Against me, causing me to feel like an outcast
All I can do is recoil in my soul and retreat
To my neutral corner, and lick my wounds in defeat.

What keeps me going today is the look in my childrenís eyes,
Who love me unconditionally, as if Iím some great prize.
Iím just a Mom, who tries to give them more than
I had, without much help from family, or from some man.

The pressure to succeed seems so overbearing
And doing this all alone takes its toll on my very being.
To those who may be weaker, this life isnít worth the fight
As for me, I still stand strong so this is why

Sometimes I CryÖ

Sometimes I Cry
An outstanding write my friend, your words ring so true for so've penned my mom's life as well! Amazing! She too raised children alone, three of us, no help from family or our dad...but she made it! The end results was much self satisfaction, a thriving business of her own, and three children whom turned out just fine! I am a married mother, grandmother, author and school teacher, my brother a retired coal miner living a comfortable life at home with his wife as their children are grown, and my sister own married and owns her own mom, well we stil consider her the greates person on earth! Just as I bet your children think of are truly a survivor! It will shine through your children as time goes by! Great write, enjoyed!

Reader Reviews for "The Passion Within"

Reviewed by Cheryl Adams 9/10/2007
Sometimes I Cry has absolutely captured my attention, it's strange when you see that someone else in the world truly feels the exact same things that you feel, and has the same motivations to keep one focused and fighting for survival. This piece was written as if its author was reading my mind, heart and soul. Thank you for letting me know that i'm not alone in all that i face and please, keep writing.
