TALL DARK AND GHOSTLY!
In life, William Markham was a giant of a man--but his specter is only visible to Lady Arianna Halverson, a gifted psychic sensitive to those who have passed beyond this mortal realm. Betrayed by his enemies, neither dead nor alive, he is lost in a shadowland and she alone can help him...
Arianna cannot resist. With him she will know a passion that goes beyond the bounds of ordinary existance. But he cannot stay forever in the land of the living, unless her love can save him...
Well made, he appeared to have been created by an artist’s hand. Dark chestnut hair framed his high forehead but was pulled back and fastened at the nape of his neck. The hint of a scar ran down his right cheek which made him appear quite dangerous.
Impatient at her hesitation the spirit scowled.
Arianna felt the burn of her blush as she considered just how that if he were alive, how his wide, generous mouth and those white, perfect teeth would feel scraping against her skin. A shiver passed through her and he smiled, as though he could read her thoughts.
At that moment she considered how easy it would be for him to crush her smaller, slighter form. Instead, he remained a still, immovable force, harnessing all of his power and holding her with his stare. He could have been carved out of granite, but a passion burned in his gaze that made her at once curious and a little bit fearful. Not of his imposing presence, she realized, but of her own weak will that would likely have her fall at his feet if he so desired.
“Well? Will you help me, or not?”
Arianna shivered as the rich, baritone sound wrapped around her senses. Though a veteran of many late night conversations with the deceased, she had never experienced more than the wispy, thready sounds of her counterparts. This was different. It was deep, thick, and virile. It aroused in her strange, new feelings.
"Well, do you have a voice, woman?"
Arianna's deliciously decadent thoughts came to a crashing halt at his condescending tone.
Arianna spoke through clenched teeth. "I believe I just told you that I don't take appointments before breakfast. Now, if you'd care to excuse yourself and come back..."
"Blast and timbers, woman! I have no time for such nonsense. There is vengeance to be had. This is not some garden party."
"I realize you need intervention, but I'm afraid I simply cannot help you right now. I need rest. Please come back in the morning."
“I’m not leaving until you do as I bid. My murderer still breaths and walks. I’ll not rest until I’ve destroyed him. My current state of existence has somehow been tied to you. For whatever reason I am stranded here.”
Arianna crossed her arms, tamping down on her rising temper. “What do you want?”
“I need you to kill a man.”
