Today you will meet your HeartMate.

T'Ash has avenged his dead family and carefully crafted his life. He knows Danith is his future and the future of his clan. Danith, an orphaned commoner, wants life easy too. But one look at T'Ash tells her that he's going to make her life quite difficult. She knows he is noble, powerful and dangerous. Not for her. Then there's the second prophecy: A woman surrounded by blazers, in

Back Cover copy: "Today you will meet your HeartMate." Rand T'Ash's blood thrummed in his temples as he stared at his Divination Dice...

All his life, Rand T'Ash has looked forward to meeting his HeartMate, with whom he could begin

a family. Once a street tough but now a respected nobleman and artisan, he has crafted the perfect

HeartGift, which, in the custom of the psychically-gifted population of the planet Celta, is the way

a man finds-and attracts-his wife...

Danith Mallow is irresistibly drawn to the magnificent necklace on display in T'Ash's shop, but she is wary of its creator, despite an overpowering attraction. In a world where everyone is defined by their psychic ability, Danith has little, and thus is at the opposite end of the social spectrum from T'Ash. But T'Ash refuses to accept her rejection, and sees it as a challenge instead. They are HeartMates, but can T'Ash persuade his beloved to accept her destiny by his side?

The smell of the forge came to her first. Hot metal, cold chemicals, male sweat, and pure, unadulterated, hair-raising magic. The repetitive pounding grew louder. Danith stopped in her tracks. She stood, stunned at the sight of T'Ash's gleaming body clad in a brief loincloth. Her breath clogged in her lungs and her own body underwent an unusual reaction-her breasts tightened and a low ache started between her legs. Shocked at her response, she could not tear her gaze away from T'Ash.

The strengthening sunlight didn't reach into the dark swaths of blackness inside the forge. Only fire highlighted the anvil and the man. And what a man! His broad shoulders tapered to lean hips, then to taut thighs and buttocks. The muscles of his back and arms flexed as he worked, pounding at a length of sharp steel, and looking as strong as the metal.

Also like the steel, his swarthy skin showed white scars from a hard, pounding life. A knot that had to be a knife wound was under his right shoulder blade, a long line twined from the nape of his neck to around the left side of his waist.

As he worked, he chanted words of Power. She stood for moments watching him, so enthralled that her breathing came in time with the rhythm of his hammer. Though the planet Celta had been founded by those espousing Celtic traditions, the colonists had not shunned other mythologies, and every child learned about the many ancient cultures of their ancestors. To Danith, T'Ash was the living image of Hephaestus, the Greek God of the forge. At that thought her stare traveled down his solid, straight thighs, and she shook her head, coming out of her daze. He carried scars, but he wasn't crippled like the God.

Then his hand curved around the nape of her neck, and she trembled with sensation. With ease
he pulled her against his large form. The very touch of his skin sent pulsing little shocks throughout her. She drew breath to speak, and his scent acted on her like drugged wine, dizzying her beyond reason.

She saw the flash of blue eyes for just an instant before he bent down and put his mouth on hers. Kissed her. A very gentle, almost tentative kiss. His very lack of demand disarmed her. She hadn't noticed how soft his lips were. Surely the softest thing about him.

His hands cradled her head as his mouth brushed against hers once again. More than sensuality
spun between them, an extra energy, a heart-threatening tenderness. And he feathered their lips
together again. Pleasing, tantalizing, a small courtship. His was the sweetest kiss she had ever known. How could the fiercest man she'd ever met give her the sweetest kiss?

She pulled her mouth from his, put a hand to her lips. "This can't be." She struggled to think,
but his scent, his masculinity, scrambled her mind.

He groaned. He lowered his head once more. His tongue outlined her lips, tasting her, and she
couldn't resist. She opened her mouth to let him in and plunder.

When his tongue rubbed against hers and she tasted him, fast, liquid desire enveloped her.
The kiss passed beyond sweetness, beyond passion. A layered fog closed about her. She sensed
the complexity of the man, and the intensity. Both she wanted to deny, both drew her to the flame.

He explored her mouth thoroughly and she strained upward, arching her body against his. More
than desire was revealed in his kiss, an echoing loneliness, a craving that would overwhelm her,
claim her forever. And even more. In the depths of him was the bedrock of his powerful magic.
His arms locked around her, lifting her from the ground. The movement collected her wits. She
could never match him in strength, physical or psychic. She could never match him in status or

She pushed against him, scrabbling for words that would put an end to this once and for all. His
energy, the potent electricity between them, was frightening in its power.

I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It hooked me right at
first and the intensity of the book didn't let up through the whole thing!
This is not a light read. It is rich in details and the characters are
fabulous. Zanth, the telepathic cat, absolutely stole the whole show!

T'Ash has finally discovered his Heartmate. Now all he has to do is meet
her and give her his Heartgift and she'll fall right into his arms. He has
no way of knowing what a battle it will be for his Heartmate to accept him.

Danith Mallow wants a family. Her parents died in an accident many years
ago and she had to go to an orphanage. She knows just who the man is she
will accept if he will just ask her. Then she walks into T'Ash's shop and
notices him. He's tall, dark and looks extremely dangerous. He senses
right away that she is his Heartmate but it doesn't work the other way.
She runs from him and keeps running. Action and adventure abound until he
finally gets her to realize that they belong together.

This futuristic is full of magic, rogue warriors looking for trouble and
lots of danger. I avidly devoured this book. I eagerly look forward to
more from Robin D. Owens and have added her to my list of automatic buy

5 Star Fascinating Reading

Rating: *****

Robin’s debut novel HEARTMATE is a fascinating reading trip into an amazing, cleverly crafted, fantasy world like no other. It takes place on a planet called Celta, which has been colonized by people from Earth who fled there to avoid persecution because of their special powers. The Celtans are an unique mixture of psychic and psychic-based talents, and magic (called “FLAIR”) plays a very important role in this storyline. It defines the Celtan society, dividing it to be those with Flair as nobility members, and those without Flair as poor, lower class.

Rand T’Ash is 37, and the last sole survivor of the GreatHouse T’Ash. After spending the last 19 years of his life fighting to reestablish his House and seeking revenge on those that murdered his family, he finally feels ready to find his HeartMate and begin his own family. It’s his one, unrelenting desire, and shows the determined, sometimes too impatient, strong willed character of Rand , and readers aren’t left wondering about his motives and methods in order to obtain that heart’s desire.

So, he’s thrilled to finally meet his HeartMate, Danith Mallow, who he’d actually, already dreamed of when he was 18. He’s ready to immediately claim Danith, but she isn’t so eager.

Danith feels herself lower in class to Rand, growing up an orphan and with the mistaken belief that she has no Flair. Rand knows different and is determined to prove that not only does she have a rare, special form of Flair, but that she’s also his one and only, his HeartMate. Danith is a strong woman, the perfect heroine to match Rand. She loves animals, and this plays a part in regards to her eventual discovery of her Flair talent.

Through the bumpy course of Rand’s impatient courtship of Danith, they get involved in a dangerous riot during the all-too important Discovery Days, and Danith is forced through her ‘Times of Passage’, too early and unprepared. Steadfast, Rand aids her through it, proving his love and dispelling Danith’s doubts about their future together.

One more character plays an important role in all that happens with Rand and Danith, and that’s Rand’s cat-familiar Zanth. His personality is typical cat-like, so sure in his beliefs that it takes a cat to rescue his owner(s) out of all their predicaments and that it’s a good thing he’s there for them. Robin made this character absolutely endearing.

Robin has taken that special concept of ‘soul mates’ and woven it into a rich story tapestry of magic, swords and duels, complex societies, and eternal love that triumphs over all things. By the time you’ve finished reading this book, you’ll be very happy to know that there will be sequels to this wonderful, fascinating, fantasy world of Celta and its people.
