Images prevail in this book of poems, poems that stimulate the senses and range from haiku to blank verse to free verse on the cutting edge. Break-ups, reality checks, and tongue-in-cheek humor all present sharp edges that cut through the mask, pierce the skin, or tickle the fancy.

GLASS CUTS THE SHADOW
DANNY LEE INGRAM

Poetry Collection

Taylors Ridge
Trade Paperback; 48 pp.

ISBN# 1411648137

Poetry emerges from crystallized perception of one's immediate world which becomes a singular story for both writer and reader. That in turn engages and elicits more perception and more story. Glass Cuts the Shadow does just that, leaving a multi-flavored appreciation for the endless variety of living experience.

The beauty of dance is magnificently choreographed in "Ballerina," delineating the dancer's stillness, stretching, ascension, flowing movement, straining, stretching, extension, reaching, invitation- that becomes the reader's parallel dance.

"No Change" focuses awareness of the cycles when we are open or closed to the grandeur or loss of "dreaming" through perception and imagination, resulting in creativity or stasis.

The same cycle continues in "The Waltz" but here it applies to relationships exemplifying what could become or "what could have been," a glorious dance with limitless possibilities.

Perhaps thought seems to indicate we are on the right track, but one completes one's goal only to find in "One Never Forgets" that the colorful images of action effect a "grey" memory.

Other poems in this collection will leave the reader reflecting about one's own journey, as in "Looking Back," where one can regret the ruts and wrinkles of unfulfilled moments but which in turn leaves one with significant opportunity not to dally about living the "deep-down duties" of "Dogs Do".

Unique in kind, each poem in this short collection promises to awaken your shadow and gently or firmly cut to clarity and change.

Fascinating!
