—¡Qué desastre! —dijo Wanda— ¿Dónde empezamos?
—Hay bastante lodo y hojas cerca de la zanja grande —dije—, pero debemos apurarnos.
Juan y Héctor quitaron los escombros mientras Roberto, Wanda y yo cargamos el lodo y las hojas para reparar las paredes. Trabajamos sin parar toda la noche y luego nos enrollamos para descansar un ratito.

“What a mess!” said Wanda. “Where do we start?”
“There’s plenty of mud and leaves out by the big ditch,” I said, “but we’ll have to work fast.”
John and Hector cleared the debris while Robert, Wanda and I hauled mud and leaves to patch the walls. We worked all night without a break, and then we curled up to rest for a little while.
