Fiction

In the truest tradition of Hans Christian Andersen and the Brothers Grimm comes The Woodcutter’s Son. A timeless tale of honesty and friendship, sure to warm the heart, The Woodcutter’s Son seems bound to take its place alongside the classics of fiction’s halcyon days.

Each dawn is greeted with the sad song of the beautiful princess, held captive by her cruel father who has placed the most unattainable demand on any would-be suitor. Enter the handsome and cunning woodcutter's son, who is determined to win the princess's hand in marriage.

Excerpt

The next morning, as the princess’s song filled the air, the woodcutter’s son walked up to the castle and rang the huge brass bell at the mighty gate.

“Who goes there?” came the gruff voice of the palace guard.

“It is I, a poor woodcutter’s son, come to see the king,” was the reply.

“What business have you with the king?” asked the soldier.

“I wish to ask for his daughter’s hand in marriage.”

With a mighty laugh, the guard opened the gate and allowed the woodcutter’s son to enter the castle.
