Duty and desire clash when a Druidess and Knight of the Round Table join to save a new Camelot from the sons of Mordred.

Barnes &

Arthur is dead.  Camelot is in turmoil.  Constantine, a Knight of the Round Table made king by Arthur’s dying breath at the battle of Joyous Gard and his brother Braeden, now the High Knight, hope to rebuild the kingdom and carry on the ideals of Arthur.  Together with Cynthia, Constantine’s queen, and Janne, her companion, the era of new Camelot begins.

To make the people feel safe, Constantine is forced to ban the ways of Merlin and Morganna from court.  But Janne still holds to the goddess, a fact to which the king has turned a blind eye because her healing arts saved his life as a knight.  Though she loves Braeden, she refuses to marry him for fear their union will bring the fall of the kingdom.

But the sons of Mordred, Melehan and Melou, will not be silenced.  Together with Lady Johanna, the sister of a warlord killed by the brothers, they plot the ultimate revenge in a plan to pit brother against brother.

When Janne is exposed as a Druidess and put on trial, Braeden finds he faces a choice between brotherhood and love.  As Johanna and Melehan bask in satisfaction and await the fall of the New Order of the Table, `Braeden and Janne must find a way to expose their plot and still keep the ideals upon which the majestic kingdom has been built intact.

“Kiss me,” she murmured. “Kiss me now before the Saxons come and take the breaths from our bodies.”

Braeden’s agreement left his body in a rush of air and his fingertips fell from her face, quickly replaced by his mouth on hers. His lips drew and tugged at hers until her head began to swim in the rush of emotions she felt.
Then he opened her lips with his and the liquid heat of his tongue teased the edges of her mouth before sliding in to move against hers in a dance she knew well. As if someone else possessed her, she lost control and writhed against him, heat searing her to the core.

His hands moved down her back and cupped her bottom as he responded to her movements in kind. With passion growing, he tasted like what she thought fire might, and she wanted to drink and drink until she turned to liquid in his arms.

Her ears were still drumming with the beating of her heart when he lightened his kisses and finally drew away. She reached out and explored his face, sweeping a finger across his brow, along the hollow of his cheek to the line of his jaw before plunging her hands into to curl of his hair at his neck.

She sighed against his lips. “We will not die this day,” she vowed. Her fingers coursed along the corded muscles of his neck and the artery pulsing wildly at his throat. She felt his swallow hard at her touch. ‘We will live and fulfill our destinies.”

He nuzzled her ear, his lips nipped the lobe. “Only if that destiny is for us to be together. Any other I will refuse.”
