First paragraph of book:

David Edward Trench was seventeen and currently hitchhiking across western Texas.  He had ten dollars in his pocket, and everything he owned was in his backpack.  He was wanted by the law in three states for small-time robberies, but none of that was going to matter to him after tonight.  In three hours David would be dead.

It can happen to anyone. One minute you're driving along a road minding your own business, then fate steps in. An accident. That's how it happened to Todd Kendrick and his family on the road to Hagerstown, Maryland.

Todd checks out the other cars involved in the accident, only to find there is no driver in one. No one has seen him. The driver was Blake Curtis and he was no longer on earth. The ground had literally opened and swallowed him. In dreams, Blake contacts Todd and asks his help.

Using his very creative imagination and writing talent, Mr. Garrison gives the reader a look into Purgatory and its purpose. A step away from life or damnation, those who land here must remain until they work out the why of their coming.

An intriguing tale written for those who like something different. The reader will find this book hard to put down as they follow some very interesting people along the trails in Purgatory. An enjoyable read, recommended by this reviewer.

Reader Reviews for "Where the Highway Ends"

This is a very fast-past novel that had everything you could hope for in a story. I laughed and cried as the characters came alive for me. I hated to see it end and can't wait to read what's next from Mr. Garrison.

the premise for the story is a good one and the chapter lays the groundwork for what should be an interesting tale. i enjoyed the twist you put on the death of david.
