To ALEX MORTON, men and relationships were totally confusing. She honestly didn’t know what to do or how to act. Plus her spontaneous nature and clumsiness didn’t help matters either. Alex seemed to either go out with guys who treated her with no respect, like her college boyfriend JONATHAN CALHOUN, or dated guys who just wanted sex and no relationship. She even was manipulated into posing nude for an artist, only to find out it was all a game.
Alex couldn’t figure out why she had such bad luck with men. She was jealous of her best friend ANNA LAWSON, and college roommate SHELBY QUINTON. They had found the men of their dreams. But after watching both Anna and Shelby get married, being single started to weight heavily on Alex’s mind. She felt empty, pathetic and alone, but somehow she remained positive that one day her true love would sweep her off her feet.
Alex’s only saving grace was she had a great career as a Financial Planner in New York City. She was proud of the fact that she could take care of herself, but all she really wanted was someone to love her. Then fate dealt her an unbelievable hand. Her clumsiness paid off. She met the man of her dreams, JAKE REYNOLDS, a sports writer for The New York Post. She falls madly in love with him.
After months of over analyzing his every thought and every action, Alex starts to wonder if he will ever tell her he loves her. Her track record with men starts to play games in her head. Will he say those three words, I Love You, or will she lose the man of her dreams?

Prologue
The first time Alex saw him was in a hotel bar in Chicago. She was in Chicago on a business trip with her boss Katherine. They had been in meetings all day, and all Alex wanted to do was sit at a table in the lounge and have a glass of wine.
When she saw him, he took her breathe away, and definitely made her sit up straight. There was just something about this guy, Alex was drawn to him, and she knew she had to meet him. He was absolutely gorgeous. He had short light blonde hair that was all messy on top, was about 6’1 and had a body to die for. He had broad shoulders, small waist, and from the angle she was sitting, he had a very nice butt. He had on a dark blue short sleeve shirt and light blue jeans. He was talking to another gentleman as he walked in and didn’t notice her. When the other gentleman walked away to talk to someone else, he took a seat at the bar.
After Alex’s last relationship, she wasn’t sure she wanted to approach him, especially since she didn’t have all that much confidence in herself and really hadn’t dated anyone in a long time. But then she decided to take a chance, what could it hurt? If he rejects her, she won’t ever have to see him again.
Grabbing her purse, she proceeded to walk toward the bar. As she walked up to the bar, he turned and looked right at her. He smiled at her, but all she noticed was the bluest eyes she had ever seen. They were crystal blue, and were sparkling in the light. Completely captivated by his eyes, she didn’t even notice where she was walking. Before she could stop herself she tripped and went flying over a chair. She wanted to die, total humiliation. He jumped up to help her, “Are you OK?” Alex just wanted to crawl out of there and never look back. She was so embarrassed that she couldn’t even look at him.
He helped her up, and all she could say was, “I’m fine, thanks.” Alex walked out of the bar as fast as she could and right into the elevator. She had never been so humiliated in her entire life. She honestly couldn’t believe she just did that. He was beautiful and she just blew it. Her luck with men was at an ultimate low. Why did these things keep happening to her? She never met someone in a normal way, something always went wrong. It was like a curse. She honestly couldn’t believe what just happen, “I can’t believe I just fell on my face in front of him. What a clumsy idiot.”
When she got into her room, she busted out laughing. These things happened to her all the time. Either she dates the wrong guy, or nearly kills herself trying to meet the right one. As she looked in the mirror, she thought to herself, you can either cry your eyes out or take it with a grain of salt and laugh at it. If she dwelled on it, it was not going to help her. She had always been the type of person to laugh at herself or found the humor in nearly everything that happened to her. Sometimes it was good to be that way, but other times it could come back to bite her in the ass.
As she laid in bed that night she said to herself, “I won’t see him again anyways, even though I wish I would, but tomorrow I go back to New York and on with my life.”
The only problem was Alex couldn’t fall asleep, she kept thinking about him. As she tossed and turned, all she could think of was 'My Lord was he hot.' His blue eyes were so amazing. And that smile, he had really nice teeth. She tried to close her eyes to fall asleep but she couldn’t get him out of her head. When he had helped her up, the touch of his hand was magical and it was something she had never felt before. It ended up being a very restless night.
She got up the next morning, got dressed and went downstairs to meet Katherine. There was no sign of hot blue eyes, which was a good thing since she was still embarrassed, but a part of her was hoping to catch one last glance of him.
Before Alex knew it, she was back in New York City. When she got into her office, she realized her voicemail was full, and most of them were personal calls. Anna had called several times yelling at her because she had forgotten her cell phone again. Alex forgot it all the time. She hated cell phones.
Anna needed Alex to call her as soon as possible, she had big news. So Alex picked up the phone, and dialed her number. Before she could even say Hello, Anna was blurting out she was engaged. Alex was shocked, “Oh my, really, I can’t believe it. That is wonderful.” Alex honestly thought that Dan would never ask her, so this was a total surprise.
Anna replied, “I thought he would never ask me, especially since we have been together for over 7 years. I had started to lose hope.” Anna told Alex how it all happened. He took her to the top of the Empire States building during sunset, and popped the question with roses and gave her a huge diamond ring. Anna sounded so happy and excited. Alex was excited for her, “Anna, I am really happy for you guys. Congratulations.” Then Anna started rambling on about something, Alex’s mind drifted back to that hot guy in the bar the night before. She just couldn’t get over his blue eyes, his chiseled face and hot body. Why was it so easy for her friends to find true love? She felt so lost and had started to lose all hope in ever finding the man of her dreams. She drifted back to reality when Anna yelled in the phone, “Are you listening?? I was asking you to be my Maid of Honor, so will you?” Alex replied, “Of course, I was listening. And Yes, I would love to be your Maid of Honor.” Alex hated that term, Maid of Honor, who came up with that term? Basically it was your only friend who was still single, and you had to put a scary name to her. How horrifying was the term “Maid”?
Alex told her she had to go, and that she would call her that night. Once they hung up, Alex realized she was the only single person left of all her friends. She was happy for Anna, but it made her feel alone and pathetic. No matter what she did, Alex always seemed to screw it up or pick the wrong guy or do something so dorky that the guy would never want to see her again.
Well she had a lot of work to do, so for the rest of the day she tried to keep busy, and not think about marriage and being single, and of course Hot Blue eyes. Needing to take a break, she got up and walked into the office kitchen and looked at the New York Post. It was open to the Sports section. She almost fainted, there he was hot blue eyes staring back at her. He was in a picture with the GM of New York Yankees and some other guys. And the caption read, “Jake Reynolds gets an exclusive interview with the GM of the NY Yankees about the up coming trade.” So his name was Jake Reynolds and he was a sports writer for The New York Post. She was shocked. Then she realized that maybe she would see him again, but hopefully the next time she would not make a fool of herself. Deep down Alex knew she had to meet him. She didn’t know why, it was just a feeling, but she was going to do everything in her power to find him.
