Momi the Mermaid is bored. "There's nothing to do around here," she pouts. Elsie the Eel shows her and her friends how to have a great time.

This best selling book tells how Momi, a Hawaiian mermaid, shakes her boredom. Old Elsie the Eel says, "Follow me." In a rollicking, rhythmic tale, we see Elsie leading Momi and her friends, Cheeky the Turtle, Wiki the Whale, Dandi the Dolphin, Moki the Monk Seal and Manny the Mahimahi through the ocean and...right back home! Elsie shows them how to copy the special thing each one can do, and soon they are spouting water, leaping over waves, twisting and turning, and having a hilarious time. Charmingly illustrated by Yuko Green.

Currently out of print.

Excerpt

"Where are you going?" asked Moki.

"We're going to the Land of Delight," said Momi.

"May I come with you?" asked Moki.

"Of course," said Momi.

And off they swam. Elsie the Eel, and Momi the Mermaid, Cheeky the Turtle, and Wiki the Whale, Dandi the Dolphin, and Moki the Monk Seal, and way at the end, Momi's very best friend, Manny the Mahimahi.

"Are we there yet?" asked Momi.

"Almost," said gruff old Elsie the Eel.

All the creatures in the sea, including the cherubic Momi, have a special talent, which means they're all equally special, right? A celebrate-our-differences meditation done up in colorful fashion.
