RAW Rating: 4.0 (out of 5)
The nearly 30 poems compiled in TIMELESS INFLUENCES remind me of a smoke-filled club packed to capacity with young professionals sipping cocktails, anticipating the next great poet. It is easy to visualize Oliver-Lawson flowing on stage sharing her thoughts of love lost, the influence of music, a mother's embrace and life after death. The words combine to describe vivid reflections of life that can be shared by everyone. The rhythm and flow of the prose is reminiscent of a soulful blues song that you want to go on and on.

The last section provides details on the inspiration behind the words and provides insight into why Oliver-Lawson chose the words she wrote. It allows the reader to have a glimpse inside the mind of the author resulting in a more personal attachment to the poems.
