(Synopsis) It was a strange series of events, that made ex cop, Otis Tweedy, and his wife Sarah, move across the atlantic to live in the small town of Cappawhite, Ireland.
And it was another strange set of circumstances that would not only threaten their sanity, but also their very existence. Something had happened to Sarah, something vile, something unmentionable, that even the church did not fully understand.

  Bering sea, 1830.

Darkness enveloped the great Man-O- War as she climbed up into another mountainous wave, and violently lurched on a roll to port. The timbers masts and rigging creaked loudly from bow to stern, as they strained under a wind and sea so powerful that it threatened to break the vessel into a thousand pieces as the waves crashed around and over it. A mighty lightning bolt turned night into day as it forked its way majestically across the dark clouded sky, stretching its powerful talons over the sea, and betraying the condition of the ship below with its ripped and tattered sails that blew like colourless streamers on some faraway grotesque battlefield. Midshipman Roberts stared out from the open hatchway, his eyes widening with fear, mouth opened, as he stared up at the masthead and the scene he was witnessing before him. "Dear Lord, I must tell someone," he cried, as the sky lit up again, and he scurried quickly down below.

Tate's approach to this spooky Irish story is unique and original: It is a love story, a ghost story, and best of all, a gripping thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Cappawhite is a gripping holiday read set in an authentic Irish village. First time author Gerald J Tate should be exceptionally proud of himself. I'll guarantee you won't be able to set it down. Move over Stephen King

A fantastic read. I could not put this book down, which has caused my body to burn from the hours reading this carefree on the beach. It will not be long before this makes it to the big screen. 10/10
