Just as the hangman was about to perform his gruesome duty," offered the Gazette, "the woman turned to Colonel buck and raising one hand to heaven as if to direct her last worlds on earth, pronounced this astounding prophecy:
"Jonathan Buck, listen to these words, the last my tongue shall utter...upon my stone will appear the imprint of my foot, and for all time long after your accursed race has perished from the earth the people will come from afar to view the fulfillment and will say: 'Here lies the man who murdered a woman.' Remember her well Jonathan Buck. Remember her well."
